I'm just wondering if everyone in Houston within a 5 mile radius of IAH could do me a small favor and stop breathing between 19:00 on Aug 17 and 10:00 on Aug 18....
It's just a few hours... Please?

The routes South from Canada are very restricted right now... moreso by the day. My 1 hour layover flights in both directions disappeared last week. Even if we might be slightly more attractive as tourists.... getting there is more than half the battle and well beyond what most would even attempt so far as effort put into taking a vacation.
You are worried about the same thing as my divebuddy. Those nasty sick Americans in Houston!

I am more worried about those nasty sick Americans from all over that country that will likely form the majority of divers on our scheduled Belize liveaboard this October.

Belize appears to be putting some very stringent checks in place. But these will only catch presenting offenders after they arrive in Belize.

Don't enter Houston metro area unless you're wearing a hazmat suit.

And don't have any other serious medical issues while there as they would have to medevac you to a Lubbock hospital.

Lubbock? I would take my chances with the Houston hospitals, thanks.

A ScubaBoard Staff Message...

A quick reminder:

A ScubaBoard Staff Message...

There has been one or more reports related to general coronavirus / COVID19 discussion in this thread. Please be aware the purpose of this thread is discussion of coronavirus / COVID19 as it relates to Cozumel only. Cozumel-specific status/statistics are acceptable, as is information about openings and/or travel to Cozumel. General travel discussion, like general virus discussion, should be posted to one of the existing threads, or create a new thread, if needed, in the appropriate forum.

Please note: this subforum typically limits discussions to topics as they relate to Cozumel only. This thread has meandered far from what one normally would see here, in that there is quite a bit of general discussion. We (the moderators) are not going to go back and make any retroactive changes, but ask that you please follow the community standards going forward and focus on the subject only as it relates to Cozumel. Posts more appropriate for general discussion will be removed without notice.

I know this is the Coz forum, where the rules are somewhat more loosely enforced than on other forums on the board. Still, personal attacks and completely non-Coz related posts are not allowed. If I have to continue deleting off topic posts, thread bans might happen.

Keep it (remotely) on topic and avoid personal attacks, and everyone will be happy. Including the Mod Corps.

and no direct flights to Miami any more. What is you plan for sleeping in the airport? In resume you are one your way to Belize? -or possibly Coz...( edited to include coz)

I’m concernd that the overnight layover in the terminal will fall foul of ‘quick connection’ requirements to allow transit through the US.

Per United...

The HEPA filtration system on board our mainline aircraft recycles the air every 2-3 minutes and removes 99.97% of particles, making the air on board a plane cleaner than what you experience in restaurants, grocery stores, schools or even hospitals. Today, we announced that we'll not only run these filters at full strength for the entire flight — we’ll run them during the boarding and deplaning process, too.

Well that addresses my earlier issue with the time at the gate on both ends. It's something they should have been doing all along.

That is what the article says. But it is more often now. Just possible somebody should have been thinking that if in the normal course of things they were hitting capacity they might need more capacity? But it is hard to pay for beds and health care professionals that are not being used all the time. In my shop we are above capacity. I would love to have more techs but can't find them. On the other hand there is more money in running at or above capacity.

For me, I would say loud to everyone "please stay at home" until the pandemic is over...

You can say that, but you probably won't hear the same thing coming from instructors in Mexico. I spent a day diving with a French ex-pat that has been diving and teach in Mexico for a quite a few years now (12 IIRC). His French friends don't understand why he wants to open Mexico back up, they have a safety net from their government making sure that they don't fall too far, if they fall at all. He has little between his family and poverty.

I understand this entirely.
That's the reason I asked which tourists they would prefer to receive.
But I suspect that those guys have something more important to do for their lifes just now, instead of chatting on SB...
Personally, if I was working there, I would prefer the Swedish ones..
