Divers, guess what! Even if you are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms, the virus is still doing its thing in your body, turning you into a nondiver for the rest of your life.

I definitely understand that asymptomatic people can still spread the virus and that their immune system response will be different than those with symptoms. I don't understand why an asymptomatic individual would have serious lung damage, without knowing that something was wrong. It just doesn't make sense.

It's the same air that the engines use to burn fuel. There is air outside, it is just very cold and thin (low pressure). The engines heat and compress the air before it is fed to air conditioning and filter units.

The air filtration system on planes was designed back in the good old days when smoking was allowed. Hence the very robust hepa filter stuff. About half of the inside air is bled out each cycle. So 50% fresh and 50% recycled. This is done about every 3 to 5 minutes.

This is way better than the air in my house or car. Or in any restaurant or store.

But in your house, your car, a restaurant, a grocery store or a Costco/Lowes/Home Depot, lets consider the volume of space that a given number of people are in. Chris Cuomo reported on CNN the "Viral Load" we encounter has a direct impact on the degree of sickness we may experience. So, If I'm walking through my grocery store or Costco that both have 30'+ ceilings the potential "viral load" that I could experience is so diluted based on the air space within that store that it is a far safer place to be than on a plane that has stuffed and crammed people in a tube. If you think you are safe on a plane in that tube with 50% recirculated air and masks on help yourself. I guarantee if you got on a plane and had someone beside you hacking and coughing who didn't display a temperature at the checkpoint and was allowed to board you'd be requesting another seat far away or stuffing your mask to your face wishing you never got on that plane. Do what you will and fly away as you wish but don't pretend you are safer on a plane than in your car, home or grocery store.

How many test subjects file through your grocery store or Costco between cleanings? How many touch everything? Have you watched the people who insist on picking up almost every piece of fresh produce before they pick one?

We have local mass transit. The buses and trains serve a complete day with thousands of people using them before they go out of service.

I would rather get on a plane than ride a bus or grocery shop.

And that's not to mention the fact that no one besides my wife and I have been in our house since sometime in January and we haven't been out other than to pick up food curbside since shortly after that. The "air quality" may not be as good, but I am very confident the virus isn't in here with us.

To me it seems air volumes, air changes and proximity - I'd ride my moto to get potato chips long before I road the bus to the airport with a mask on.

And we all know that curbside delivered food has not been contaminated. The order picker in your grocery store wore a mask and never sneezed on your broccoli!

And oddly enough, one of our local pizza delivery chains has decided that wrapping the pizza box in a plastic bag with a big "seal of approval" sticker makes it "more safe". If the guy who cut and boxed the pizza sneezed all over it, the bag is too little too late. It also steams the pizza and makes it soggy.

The easy answer is..if you are an Out of shape old fart or have underlying conditions...lock yourself up to be 100% certain you’ll live another day ..

me, I’m going to CZM next month unless they close the airspace!

You are disregarding fact that the media and the scientists now agree that this virus is airborne. The CDC, the WHO, and Fauci himself all lied to us. Remember when "Masks do nothing" was reported and we were were told not to wear masks? We can deal with any virus that may settle on this or that with simple hand washing and washing the items we may purchase. This virus spreads rapidly in the air in closed environments.

Do what ya will Joe but I won't getting on a plane with ya.

Don’t. No one is forcing you...the do not wear masks was to prevent shortages like we experienced With TP...nothing is going to protect you 100% except a concrete tomb. Enjoy your exile from the world....solitude does have its advantages:wink:
