I'm seeing more and more people without masks, although they are still legally required.
I hate that. I wear one everywhere I go, but that does more to protect others. Hardly anyone here does now, and those who don't are elevating my risks.

Sorry not Coz related, but...went to the dentist today. The receptionist at the check-in desk was taking temps (with a non-invasive thermometer) prior to seating folks in the waiting area. One lady totally flipped out, screaming at the receptionist about how insulted she was that she would dare take her temp and how she was violating her rights etc etc...Man, I'm at a loss as to what is going on with folks. Maybe they are just scared. I don't know anymore...:idk: I'm ready to go diving...o_O

Wow. Good gawd people are stupid. I feel for that receptionist. She isn’t able to tell her off and call her a dumbass, but I can... and always do in situations like that.

She needs to leave then. To be honest, I’m not worried about Covid, I’m not denying it. I have a degree in biomedical science and I’m currently in Cozumel diving. But, like Believing in Santa. I don’t understand why anyone has an issue wearing a mask or washing hands etc when requested. It has zero impact on me other than having to smell my own @ss breath. Just wash your damn hands and wear the damn mask.ots like fighting for the right to set fire to your own hair. It’s a nonstory, they shouldn’t be given flexibility.

The reseptionist should tell the flip out lady: “Welcome to the new normal”. That’s the new dentist protocol. I had a crown fell off my mouth & my dentist needed to reglue it. The receptionist handed me a waiver form and beam IR gun on my forehead to read my body temperature. Then she said, “96F, you are good to go” and showed me the temperature gun display. This reminds me of the time when HIV came about and the dentist is required to wear mask since then.

That's pretty much how I felt. On my way out I thanked the receptionist for her efforts. She seemed grateful for the recognition but I could tell she was a bit whipped. Obviously it had been along day and not her first encounter with this mindset. Go figure...It's a brave new world. Hopefully reason, rationality, and care for others will prevail in the long run. Always hopeful...diving soon...please. :)

I probably would have been, "Look lady, they're about to go wrist deep into your fat pie hole, with you spitting and slobbering all over the place. There's nothing wrong with them making sure you're not sick first, and she's just doing her job".

Wow! (Again!) Eight new cases in Cozumel today. I think that's twice that we've recently recorded eight new cases. Pending tests continue to increase.

Semaphore for southern QRoo lowered from Red to Orange for the week of June 22-28. Northern QRoo remains at orange: Semáforo de Riesgo Epidemiológico del 22 al 28 de junio 2020 | ¡Reactivemos Quintana Roo!

Article at Náuticos aumentan las tarifas de tours y otras actividades turísticas en Cozumel (Spanish) indicating that some water sport tourist operators are increasing prices by 20% because of reduced capacity (currently limited to 30%) and new sanitation requirements. The article seems to be addressing snorkel trips, which are now $500-600 pesos ($23-28 US), but one has to wonder if dive operators won't be doing the same. 20% hardly seems like enough to cover the increased costs.

It looks like they are going to give up like the US did and sacrifice citizens to save the economy.
