Lots of that all over the world. Looking at the virus spread in the USA, there appears to be a strong correlation between states that pushed hard to "open up" quickly and places with sharp spikes in virus spread and hospitalizations. It's still a little early to draw firm conclusions, but it appears we are now seeing the leading edge of virus spikes caused by relaxation (no mask wearing, lacking of social distancing, gatherings) over the Memorial Day weekend. We should have better data in about a week or so. If the sharp uptick in numbers continue, we are in for a very, very difficult summer ahead.
Everyone is tired of the pandemic, and having to be inconvenienced by measures to limit its spread. From where I live, it looks to me that many people have just decided they've tired of the inconveniences, they're given up, and have decided to move on - as if the virus was not still circulating...fewer people wearing masks, less distancing, more congregating. It's human nature but it's also dangerous and irresponsible IMHO. The virus is still around.
I worry that people will just give up, pretend the virus has been beaten, and we will get a big spike that requires a complete shutdown and shelter-in-place again. Nobody wants that.
