I can't wait to get my hands and feet on these fins :) Mine are sailing from France to Italy and hopefully to Tripoli very soon. I have never been so excited about fins in my life... What will be more exciting is seeing @stuartv using a pair too :)

@stuartv my non-sport GOs work very well for back kick. Much better than my cold water Mares Avanti Quattro plus do. These are the only fins I have multiple dives in so the only ones I can compare.

Well, don't be counting on that happening any time soon. :D One, I am very happy with my Deep6 fins (for when I need neutral-ish fins). And, two, I no longer work for the shop where I had good ScubaPro pricing. I'm actually moving my gear from ScubaPro to Atomic and Bare. I believe my new Atomic M1 regs will be in my hands later this week and I am looking forward to giving them a good comparison against my ScubaPro Mk25EVO/G260 setup.

But I guess you never know. I'm intrigued by these SP fins and will be looking for a chance to try some out.

Wow, you make me look like a crazy spender! The retail is only $120 and I know you can get a good discount without much work, do it you’ll be glad you did.

Ha! We'll see. I just bought new freediving fins, a new wing, new regs and wetsuits, and I'm going on a Blackbeard's cruise in less than 2 weeks. Maybe after I get back from that...

You’ll wish you had them on the trip, better hurry and pick up a pair...

The new freediving fins are for the trip! I love my freediving fins for non-technical, warm water dives. I'm taking my Deep6 fins, too, for just in case.

I'd love to read your review and comparison. The first obvious comparison for me is the "smoothness" and "subtlety" of the venturi effect in the Atomic vs. the SP. As you know, the Venturi is automatically controlled in the Atomic second stage. It opens up to the fully open position at around 20 meters. I can sense that gradual change in the venturi effect.

Several reasons.

I can move my legs and feet less to get the same propulsion. So, I feel like I use less gas.

If I'm on a drift dive and want to fight the current to get to something, I usually can. For the same effort I might put into regular fins, the freediving fins propel me significantly faster. Ever try to catch a turtle that has decided to leave? I have done it - well out to the side, of course, to get out in front for a picture. With regular fins, outpacing a turtle is not so easy. For me, anyway. Whatever example you want to use, the bottom line is they produce a lot more thrust for the same effort expended. Go faster with the same effort, or go the same speed with less effort.

They work just fine for frog kicks, as well. And I can even usually manage to back up with them, as well, though not as fast as with more technical fins.
