Hi all

Just wondering what divers are using for their CO analysis while traveling now that Analox have stopped manufacturing their portable unit and with the CO-Pro being discontinued?

Its seems to me that there are plenty of inline units for compressor stations but a serious hole in the market for an affordable portable unit for traveling divers.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There is indeed an opportunity but it is a pretty small niche market. I use a cootwo but I don't have warm fuzzies about the customer service communications that I have seen on this site from the company owner. I am also not too thrilled with the co calibration costs and procedures but it is what it is.

CO-Pro being discontinued
Is it? I looked at that when I first got interested in tank testing, liked the price, but it had been discontinued then. I guess it came back after we got more interest generated in the sport, but I never thought it was dependable.

The Analox EII is still my favorite. It's too bad that the market would not support the manufacture and the company stopped making them, but if you can find one - new or used, the company will still provide sensors when needed.

The Sensorcon Inspector is a nice unit, as well as more affordable. You can drop it in a gallon ziplock bag, fill it, and read. Two warnings: (1) crack the valve first before putting the bag over; I once sent a bag and tester overboard by turning on after I positioned the bag. (2) take a new bag everyday as they develop leaks in handling.

The DiveNav CooTwo is a great unit, and you can get a model that does CO & O2 at the same time. Pricey, but easy to use.

Some like the ToxiRAE 3. I have no experience with it.

I also use cootwo, switched from Analox. CO testing happens automatically when I analyze for Oxygen content so there's no chance of getting lazy and skipping the test.

Does anybody use this
OxyCheq - OxyCheq Expedition CO Analyzer w/ Alarm
After pricing the replacement sensor for my Analox I am tempted to buy this.

I got one, and due to some sensor problem we could not seem to get a handle on, it read positive on deco mixes and even pure O2 straight out of the T bottle. I don't know whether they eventually figured it out after I returned it, but after a while I asked for and got a refund. On air, there was no issue at all.

Does anyone use something like this inserted into a balloon to test cylinders?
Carbon Monoxide Detector
That's a patch to hang or stick in a vehicle. Probably a good idea for cars if you can remember to look at it frequently.
