Thanks all, for your tips/suggestions - very helpful.

I've yet to remove my tx from my reg set so if your regs are already adequately distinguishable then I don't see the need just because you added a tx to your first stage.

Well, we're a bit OCD about such things, so I'll be labeling them all one way or another - but you raise a good question: is it common practice to leave the transmitter attached to one's reg long-term? We are recreational divers, typically do 1-2 trips a year (traveling to warm water destinations). I had assumed we just attached the transmitters as we were assembling our gear at the destination, and disconnect when breaking down our gear for the trip home...

Awesome - I did not know about these. I can imagine plenty of uses, thanks for the pointer.

Mako sells the Trident paints. A simple dot on the transmitter and another on the band of the Perdix makes it easy for us to know quickly which sets go together, including spare transmitters. Wife's are yellow, mine are red. Also created custom graphics for the Perdix startup screens with our names and the default transmitter number.

We also use Yellow/Red for our gear. Didn't know about the custom startup screens - I will investigate that once the unit arrives.

One should not really use nail polish on plastics as many contain solvents that will damage the plastic. Instead, use acrylic model paint like that made by Testors.

Ah, good tip. Off to the model airplane shop for some Testors.

Good plan!

Yeah, pretty sneaky I am. :)

I don't see why you would do this. I would suggest connecting the transmitters to the first stages via 6 inch HP hoses so no knucklehead uses it as a handle.

I would third that!

Personally I don't break my regs down for flying - they simply get wound into a loop and shoved in a reg bag which then goes into my carry on along with my DC. If you do choose to break them down, make sure you check the O ring each time.

The only time I could see when you would disconnect the tx is for reg service or a battery change. Otherwise it's just part of your reg set.

How did you do this? Did I miss something in the manual?

Under Dive Computer you can Update Start-Up Text or Update Start-Up Image. Created a simple jpg with the right dimensions and uploaded via Bluetooth to the DC using the Update Start-Up Image. Nice light background with large text is way better than an advertisement.

(First in what will probably be a series of dumb noob questions...)

No joke, the only "dumb noob questions" are the ones divers feel too embarrassed to ask. I'm one of the saltier old geezers on the board and ask them all the time. I guarantee, there are hundreds of divers that will learn from your questions for every snarky self-serving reply you might get.

Good on ya mate.

Thanks! I will give it a try.

When we got them, I was thinking it would be nice if you could change the start up screen.

I just ordered a new Perdix AI for my wife (Merry Christmas, dear). I expect I will be picking up one for myself soon after (very sneaky there, eh?). These will be our first AI computers, so we're new to having transmitters too. One way or another, we tend to mark most of our gear (color coded) so we can tell them apart from each others' and also so it doesn't get mixed up with anyone else's on a boat.

The transmitters look pretty generic - and with the increasing popularity of AI transmitters, I bet these are going to continue to proliferate. I would hate to lose one to a mixup, and at a minimum I'll want to keep mine sorted out from my wife's (who is also my dive buddy).

Any practical advice for marking these, keeping transmitters sorted out, and not lost to other divers?

Thanks!
As @Akimbo says above, the only truly dumb question is the one you never asked! Better to ask the question and be thought a fool than not ask it and regret it at a later date.
