I'll be down in Cocoa Beach area chartering a boat out on Monday then maybe I'll go down to west palm later in the week. I'd go with you to try the O but I'm not trying to drive all the way up there and get washed out by an oil slick. Maybe I'll just bring my drysuit and do a hazmat dive just in case :) ....

Have fun, wish you luck.

so... how was it on the O?

Dove the O Sat July 31 , went out with the fine folks at H2O Below , Capt Doug , Sleppy , and the ever charming Donna and 8 or 9 fellow divers . Left the dock with completely flat seas and sweltering heat , but a B E A utiful day with a great bunch of divers. Got on site rather quick due to the flat seas , only one other private boat there with 5 or so divers , no one else in sight. No current on the surface . As usual I was the first in the water with a little help from Donna and down I went , headfirst and kicking. Surface temp around 84 but whoa! what a thermocline , temp dropped to 75 around 60 or 70 ft and then a kicking current! But pretty good 60 ft or so viz at depth and WOW what fish!! Huge AJs everywhere! Anyhow , completed 2 great dives , everyone had a good time , and no sign of oil or any sign that any problems from the oil . Of course the real treat is the trip back when the outstanding crew grilled the best all beef hotdogs you ever ate. This makes my 17th dive on the O and I never grow weary of the hot dogs. Folks this is a great boat and a first class crew on a world class dive . If you havnt dove this wreck with these folks , your missing out.

I guess I should post here at least once a year.

I think the charters should do some updates on here every spring too.

Nice video! Worth a watch. Haven't cast my vote yet, though... I'm quite fond of every boat that's taken me to the O-boat - hard to make up my mind :)

Rick, I think the only competition in this contest are a pizza place, a deli, and a charter fishing boat. No other dive ops are in the running.
