The Octo Z and the SS1 use the same LP quick disconnect. If you get the quick disconnect adapter that adapts the Octo Z coupling to a standard inflator coupling you can screw the BX inflator on to the corrugated hose and use that if you want.

.

Claymore, thanks for the reply and info. However, I don't quite understand the above quote regarding LP quick disconnect and BX inflator.

When I buy the zeagle express tech and octo z, all i need to do is unscrew the inflator from the express tech bc, then attach the octo z by screwing it back on, then connect the LP hose from the 1st stage to the octo z. Is that correct ? What adapter do you mean ?

If you want to use the Zeagle BX standard inflator or any other standard inflator you can get an adapter that will connect to the Octo Z low pressure hose connection and connect to a standard inflator LP connection. I have one because I started diving with an SS1 and bought a Dive Alert to fit the SS1 connection, later I switched to a stand octo and inflator and got the adapter so that I could still use my Dive Alert with the standard inflator.

I just bought the express tech today ! pretty excited about. Also bought the 2" crouch webbing and 4x D rings.
Now actively looking for a safe second.

If I buy the SS1, how do I connect it to the express tech ? need to buy any addition adapter or does the whole ss1 package comes with enough adapters / hoses ?

Is it a simple matter of removing the original express tech inflator and directly connecting the ss1 ?

Thanks. Sorry if i sound like an idiot asking silly questions. But I have not see a SS1 (only photos on internet), and cannot imagine how to connect it to the express tech.

Really good looking BC and I love the design. I definitely have a hankerin' from one now. The only problem is it has the same old Zeagle issues:

~Corrugated hose as long as an elephant's trunk
~U-shaped wing
~Shoulder pull dump and extra lower pull dump
~Wonky wing-to-BC connection

The construction of Zeagle stuff is top-notch and I really like that they are Florida boys too, I just wish they'd straighten some of this stuff out.

If I was going to get something like this I'd buy the backplate, build my own harness and use my single tank wing.

The SS1 and Zeagle Oct-Z and the Zeagle BX Inflator use the same threaded connector on the courrugated hose. This connector will allow you to hook a garden hose to flush out the wing and remove the inflator from the BC.

The Express Tech will come with threaded connector on the corrugated hose. Zeagle uses the same connector for it's Octo-Z and the BX inflator. The Atomic SS1 uses the same corrugated hose connector and LP hose connector as the Octo-Z

If you get the Octo-Z or the SS1 they will come with an inflator hose with the proper quick disconnect fitting (Atomics and I think Zeagle use a standard second stage hose with a quick disconnect adapter on it.

Zeagle offers shorter corrugated hoses that can be ordered with the ET.

Zeagle has a 30# donut wing.

Shoulder dump can be replaced with a straight 90 degree elbow and the donut wing had one butt dump.

Their wing attaching system may be a little Wonky but all the wings are interchangeable 0n all their BC's and back plates.

The Express Tech can can be put together like a BP with different parts to suite the divers wants and or needs. All the parts can be ordered separately from the bare plate when ordering.

There's no point in the longer corrugated hose. Why should I have to special order the appropriate size?

Same thing, a donut wing should be standard.

Same thing again, standard elbow should be just that, the standard.

Wonky nonetheless, I don't like how you have to thread the wing with the belt slides.

Indeed, or I can just buy the plate and do the rest better myself using other manufacturers parts (Dive Rite harness kit) and gear I already have because I prefer swapping stuff out than using sub-optimal gear.

I'm a fan of the Express Tech now and I want one, but I do see some things that could be improved upon.

However,

if you sidemount it, the Loooooooooooooong hose and pull dump become an asset. :D I love it!

My Express Tech is together now and has been wet. I got it for travel but I am trying to make it work here in San Diego as well. I opted for 35# bladder, pad kit, tank weights and zip weights. I have some D-rings to install, and the sport pocket, and figure out a clipoff for my SPG.

But, I had it in the pool today, and it is indeed a thing of beauty. It just feels right.

I will need to dial in my weighting for salt water. Today in the pool, using small weights, I dialed it in to 15lb, 3.5x2=7 on the tank, and 4x2=8 zip weights in front. I usually carry 22# in salt with my steel 120 (used today). I carry 20# with my steel 100.

I am 225lb in a 7mm wetsuit over a 3mm vest. I was thinking I would be using less weight with the ET, compared to my SeaQuest Pro QD+, but maybe it will be about the same. I'll find out Friday.

Anyway, I am very happy with the purchase. It really feels efficient!

I'm new to the whole plate/wing arena so a basic question: I ordered two of the Zeagle utility pockets for my ET. Maybe unnecessary but just in case, any suggestions on how to attach them to the webbing so they wont slide around? I have four tri-bar d-rings to work with as well.

Thanks,
Gabe
