I also suggest trying to find a house available for rent just for the weekend, it's often times cheaper than a hotel, the houses in the keys (largo at least) are pretty nice and you can look for one with a great location on the water. Last time I was in Key largo we stayed in this amazing house on the water for the weekend for only $100 a night, the house fit 5 comfortably.

I thought she was busy fighting the oil spill.

Really? I had heard she was busy telling people that all nitrox mixes are the same and they don't need to analyze their tanks

:giggle:

Fox-C, I think the OP is asking for classier accomodations and diving.

Well I guess some people would rather waste $ than dive. I've stayed in many "classier accomodations" [sic] (I guess you meant to say "accommodations"), however the Key West Inn is clean, has friendly, helpful staff, and is well kept. :cool2:
check it out at: Key Largo FL Hotel- Key Largo Florida Hotels- The Suites at Key Largo
(I have no connection to the key west inn nor received any compensation for the above recommendation).

As for the diving... our group was treated well and had a very competent boat crew.:D

:eek:fftopic:TO ONESPEED AND D.P.:
Lets keep the thread on topic and leave the personal bashing alone before: :hijack:I don't think any of us are worthy of "casting the first stone." I know I don't qualify.

I don't want to get in the middle of an internecine spat, but I think pedantry gives license to further pedantry. One uses sic (literally, "thus") when quoting, where the original text might be confusing to the reader. It is usually bracketed and italicized and comes directly after the word or words in question and inside the quotation marks. Its use as a device for nitpicking is a bit of an affectation.

On a separate note, perhaps the original poster has the dollars to afford both diving and fancy accommodations.

Wow....

You mean they are not - and you have to check the mix

I was always taught to just estimate and put the estimated mix into my computer and just dive it - NOT :rofl3::rofl3::rofl3:

There are two ways to dive, budget and on the cheap, or comfortable and safe.

I don't mind skimping a bit on accommodations, but NEVER on dive boat comfort and safety. It sounds like the OP wants to have a nice comfortable vacation, so let's give them quality recommendations. Anyone can go camping and then go out on a cheap rickety dive boat with God knows what mix in the tanks.

Fox, I'll bet you are a big hit on the Spelling discussion forums! Way to go, Mr. Pedantic Nit-Picker! :rofl3: As if anyone on ScubaBoard really gives a rat's behind if someone makes a random keyboarding error. :shakehead:
