Since when are completely ridiculous theories that aren't remotely possible "facts"? Because they fit a scenario that gives you warm fuzzies? Wow....just wow.

I was joking about your statement about checking facts.Seeing that mostly American post here (I am one also) I didn't really think we needed facts to support our claims. It is always easier to blame someone we don't like,

For me, letting tourists decide is fine if the dive trip is designated as a lionfish hunt/kill. Then it can be understood by all ahead of time that the dive is a lion fish hunt/kill AND the diver can accept full responsibility for their actions and consequences of those actions. Of course I feel that anyone hunting/capturing/killing lionfish should be required to have Marine Park Authorization if in the Marine Park boundaries. Otherwise, I agree with Robin in that the primary goal for Cozumel diving should be focused on diving, not lionfish killing.

If anyone's interested, REEF has a Eleuthera lionfish opportunity at the end of this month. I don't know if it's open to all REEF members or only to members of the AAT.
Deborah - Looks like REEF only but it's not hard to join....From the REEF announcement:
Dear REEF members,
I am writing to let you know that we have a late breaking lionfish opportunity associated with REEF's invsive lionfish work in Eleuthera, Bahamas this June.
We are planning to conduct research in Eleuthera in partnership with Simon Fraser University, the Cape Eleuthera Instituteand the Island School from mid-May through mid-June. During the first part of this project, from May 29-June5, we have availability to add a group of 4-8 REEF divers to help with the research project. We have accommodations arranged at the Cape Eleuthera Resort and Marina and diving with both the Neal Watson affiliate at the Marina (for the offshore dives) and with Cape Eleuthera Institute (for the shallow bay dives).
The plan for the week will be to join in on lionfish impact studies, trapping studies, tagging studies, behavior studies, and lionfish removals as well as conduct REEF fish surveys. There is a lot to be done!
The cost of the week is $1,340 and will cover all diving, accommodations and meals at the Marina (ritzy!). The accommodations are quad occupancy with one room having a king sized bed and the other having 2 twin beds. There is also a pullout downstairs in each unit if needed. The units also include two and a half baths, a full kitchen, cable tv, laundry, etc etc. The units are very new and beautiful. See the website for more information.

The thing that I do not see here is anything about lionfish getting killed. Just lots of studying.
