Going to test the ability to ask a question "without fear of being accosted"!:D

Having never worn a wetsuit, what do you wear underneath? Do guys typically wear a "euro style" suit (aka, the grape smugglers or banana hammocks)?

Can you wear normal swim trunks or board shorts?

Anyone have any comments on comfort or fit wearing a normal trunk-style bathing suit?

Are there other undergarments made specifically for wet suits?

Board shorts or any trunk under a 5 mil or less. Under a 7mil or more I suggest Jammers. Longer tight swim suits. No bunching and no chance it might accidentally become a thong.

I wear normal swim trunks under mine.

when I'm diving here in CO, I'll throw on a base layer shirt (underarmor type) to help keep me a bit warmer.

do the diving community a service, do not dress like Borat anywhere near any diving location

I wear a normal bathing suit. I've been looking at the UnderArmor type compression shorts, but I really don't want to expose other people to the sight. Seen a lot of guys who wear a speedo, they generally have shorts they take off right before getting into their suit. Thank goodness they generally don't hang out (pun intended) in that state.

Whatever makes you comfortable is the key. It is all personal preference.

looking at other responses to this perrenial favorite, some folks wear swim briefs (what you mistakenly refer to as a "euro style" suit), others like square legs, while others prefer jammers, underarmor compression shorts seem to be gaining in popularity (essentially unlined jammers), board shorts and running shorts are possible. some folks advocate nothing at all. figure out what works for you and wear it.
