Golf. I am now a master clubfitter and custom clubmaker, but to get there involved quite a bit of money ($$$$ for Launch Monitor, $$$ for bending machine, $$$ for frequency analyzer, $$$ for MOI analyzer, $$$ for loft/lie gauge, etc.). Plus the seemingly endless supply of new driver heads, shafts, putters,...

Let me see---

I have Kids -- never mind if you have to ask you cant afford them.
Catamran Racing - new sails are a booger, boat is not cheap race weekends are about 1k.
Photography - digital but still the camera junk aint cheap.
Woodworking, mucho tools, wood is relatively costly.
Welding - plasma cutter, steel, and all the junk I build.

shooting - not to bad considering the alternatives.
home ownership - do you have any idea what a kitchen costs to rebuild.
paintball - take a family of 8 paintballing some time $$$$$.

Kindred spirits. These two hobbies have a hard time living in the same shop but I manage.

Though I am gradually getting out of it (Cheddarguy sold his last fall) I would have to say the $15,000 100th Annivesary Superglide sitting in the garage might count....Any body want to buy a bike????

Hobbies - Let's see, other than scuba. In no particular order.....
The boat on Maui.
The motorhome in Colorado.
Travel between them - and other places.
Flying (private pilot) - I used to fly for $5 hour wet (including gas). Things have changed since then.
Radio controlled aircraft - sailplanes, prop and helis -- cheaper than full scale.
Underwater photography - DSLR housing/strobes + HD video cam/housing.
Bicycling - good bikes are expensive.
Astronomy - good telescopes are expensive.
Motorcycle -- Harleys rule!
Archery (fairly cheap)
Music - I love guitars (NOT cheap!)
Hiking -- by far the cheapest of all!!!

If you live long enough you acquire lots of stuff. The hard part is finding the time to enjoy it!

M

its golf for me, but i am pretty good about finding discount tee times

Music - Don't ask me what I own in guitars after 23 years of playing. It's pretty amazing. I have single guitars that cost 5x what all my scuba gear combined costs.

Cars and Motorcycles - BMW's and sportbikes aren't cheap either.

Oh well! Why die with all your money, where's the fun in that? :D

My other high(er) dollar hobbies are car restoration & boating. I keep telling myself "You can't take it with you!":)

Forgot to mention two teenagers...:shakehead: Maybe I was blocking that out deliberately :D

Shooting and hunting too. I promised myself I would buy no more; I couldn't shoot all the one I own now without taking out another mortgage. I do have nightmares where I see them all spread out in a photo on the front page of the local paper.:shakehead:

Archery. It does start to get expensive when your two teenagers become your competition on the range, while good old Dad is still paying for the new compounds and the $125 + a doz arrows we all destroy or lose in the woods.

Koi ponds. Never thought THAT would be so costly. Pumps and filters too often need replacing, as do other accessories. And of course the was the Kubota I had to buy used, to dig the ponds, and all the quarry fossil stone I hand picked, to build the water falls and pond walls with!

Of course my Harleys (and the Indian Chief, now departed,:shakehead: lightning fire! Took it and my spare Harley, Triumph and Indian parts collection!), also means that my teens had to have their own bikes, so the garage is now an assembly of quads, dirt bikes, ATV's, Suzukis, Hondas, Yamahas and Harleys, in various stages of assembly.

Am quite sure that I have overlooked something. Oh ya, this year my gf promised me skydiving lessons as a late Xmas gift, but I have no intention of making it a habit.

Did I mention diving? Two teenagers...stop me if you've heard this story already.... :shakehead:

And all this on a small craftsman's salary.

That sounds extreme...is there something about your lifestyle that would result in a large raid by the ATF or the FBI????:shocked2:
