If you go to the Salt River Ranch the kayaks they rent are dive kayaks. You can take all your scuba gear with you. I've done that several times.

We once did a drift dive in full gear from entry point 1 to sheeps crossing. It was very interesting but I'm not sure I want to try it again

What happened?

Steve.

Yea, you want to be in the tube in the rapids. That is the "tubeing" part. YOu also need to have some one hold your tubes or tie a rope to them while you are snorkeling. They will get away from you.

Hey, Aaron!

Did you drift dive or just stay in one area? I think it'd be fun to just drift snorkel down the river. :) I'd like to get an overview of the whole river section from dam to dam and just float along.

Cindy on that day we didn't drift the river. We did dive the first good rapids and at the bridge.
I went the previous week and 4 of us drifted the river and three in the group were on tanks. I was freediving and it was funny to see my friends take the rapids with all their scuba kit on.
If you do float the river with or without tanks I would suggest a tube to help you get through the rapids.
I have only once floated the river without a mask, most boring trip.
If you get motion sickness easy don't spend too much time staring at the grass in the water as it can make you very sick.

Thanks, all!

Great advice! I will tie a leash onto my tube. :) I used to kayak down the river and I have had places where I had to walk my on it's leash when the water was low, so that's why I wanted to snorkel rather than SCUBA. :)

Well, I'll just drag husband and kids out and give it a try! :)

Take care, c.

I am thinking about trying this with a tank on Friday the 17th if anyone is planning to be out there let me know via PM.
I will be planning to go early like 8AM if I go!

THX,

I dont really want to make a whole day out of it drift dive style, but, I am interested if you want to pick a location and kill a tank or two.

Let me know,
