What you saw was a Deputy that was also a diver.
Deputies are given/assigned their own vehicals and if they are divers,
just as we do, they will put a flag sticker or plate on it.

He was responding to the call in his assigned area.
Could have been a wreck, some one injured at the lake, river
etc. Dive posse deputies do carry dive equipment in their vehicles
so they can quickly respond. But they handle all "normal" calls to
    service as well.

Now it is even possable that the SUV/Truck was assigned to a
deputy BEFORE who was a diver and the vehicle was REASSIGNed
to a non diver. Several months ago I was talking to a deputy who had
a dive flag sticker and he was a non-diver. He was new and was given
an older suv that belonged to a dive posse deputy who got a new suv.
He wants to get certed and just left the sticker on.

I live in Fountain Hills, so the salt is basically my back yard. If anyone plans to go some time, I would love to tag along and give it a shot.

Remember that the river water is coming from the lower depths of Saguaro Lake.
That is why the water is chilly when it is 110 out. So it compares to lower depth temps
In LP. In mid summer you get by with a 3mm. If you tend to get cold, 7mm. I always wear hood & gloves for protection.
Don't know what the actual temp is right now because I haven't dove in a few month, but if I went today, I'd wear a 7mm.

Good to know. I have a 5/4 full length and I converted my 7mm to a shorty/core warmer (the arms were torn), plus gloves and hood so I can layer now.
