While I see your points, it seems there is a big difference between these clips as far as accidentally picking up a line

I said SOME not all, I think that some of the bolt snap choices make MORE sense then they do for your wonderful style of diving. . .

So you have one type of snaps for some dives and other types of snaps for other dives?

Makes more sense just to own one type.

I'd bet there are cases where the suicide snap have caused issues, perhaps not death in most cases, but certainly issues.

Why even worry about it when any potential issue is resolved by using a good snap?

hmm I seem to have missed this post . . .

You didn't really answer the question.

You see, most people, maybe ALL who bash DIR do it on philosophy and the piss poor reputation it's gotten, not on the facts of what DIR is. You're doing it, too.

Again, please tell me where DIR doesn't fit or won't support recreational diving. Seriously, you made the statement, so I'd like you to clarify.

Where would DIR not work for recreational diving? Where?

Most people who bash the DIR system don't really know anything about it except what they read on the Internet.

I would like to know how DIR even got into this discussion.

there you go back around in a circle. . . each diver has their own preference you happen to choose one set of gear and dive in a very regimented manner, this does not work for everyone. not to mention the large portion of recreational divers in the world, non SB divers, I know thats hard to understand but there are non SB divers in the world, do not own multiple sets of equipment. They own one set of gear that they make work for all the environments they dive in. Unlike some folks who own 4, 5 or 6 sets of everything. . .

see here's the issue. It WILL work for everyone, but you refuse to believe that it could.

I have two sets of gear. A single set up, and a doubles set up. I need no other "stuff" and with it I can dive any recreational environment and do it safely. Both of my rigs are set up similarly so I don't' have to re-learn where things are when I move between the two.

So again, tell me where this kind of rig won't work in on ANY recreational dive.
