that's a "platform" that is sitting on the bottom.

used for diver training. gives classes a spot to perch in a semi-circle that isn't in the sand/silt to do their skills.

If you hit any quarrys, they usually have them at several intervals in the water, but typically with floatation on them and anchored in placed. For example a platform at 10', 15' or 20' then maybe one at 40 feet or 60 feet depending on the quarry, depth, etc...

It could quite possible be the water testing from the health department that is keeping the hold up. That would be pretty realistic.

I called the county today, AGAIN. Chris Mitchell was out of the office, so they got me someone else who is "in the know".

When I threw the BS flag on the standard "waiting for water" answer, she broke it down a bit further. The county has applied for the permit through the DEP and they are waiting on that process to finish. She had no info on how long that could take.

More alarming than waiting on the state, however, was her next comment. She said that they had to go back in a couple of weeks ago to "fix some damage caused by vandalism." She expressed that she hoped the vandalism doesn't continue, or they may have to start charging admission to cover the cost of ongoing repairs. :shakehead:

Let the Conspiracy Theorists commence!!

Sadly, I bet she speaks the truth there. You gotta know it has to be an ongoing problem. I hope either way the place gets opened soon for you guys who live down there.

Didn't stop these folks:

I'll not make the same mistake twice with seeing the place and not taking a dip. I would assume if you put in at the boat launch all would be OK. But that's just my guess.

Kenny

I'm a big advocate of begging forgiveness rather than asking for permission!
That place is beggin' for me to tap it!:D

Bud you just don't know how hard it was to drive away with a trailer full of full tanks. Had we not had in front of us a 5 hour drive, and my partner a 1 1/2 hour drive from that, I would have been posting dive pictures of us, rather than these lucky ones.

his email bounce says he's out of the office until October 6th.

well the park worked just fine in past years before we had water..... this is bullcrap.

It's hard to vandalize something that's not there. Now that there's all these pretty buildings and boardwalks, etc, there's plenty to keep vandals busy... :shakehead:

I wouldn't mind paying $5 a day for them to hire a 24/7 park guard.
