Yes.
I’ve never seen a Captain go crazy or over-react, most just politely ask that people respect their wishes. I’m all about having a good time when I go diving. I’d hate to have anyone, Captain, crew or customer reduce my opportunity to have a great day diving by pitching a fit.

yeah, me neither. FWIW I have never been on a boat where the captain was anything less than a complete professional. But I have seen plenty of people over react to both superstition and religion, to the point where people have been killed, and to be honest I am just sick of the stupidity of people. It is time to grow up, stop believing fairy tales and live in the real world, and treat all people like human beings, and treat all life with the proper amount of respect.

Thank you for your apology.

Anyway, the whole thread reminds me of this cartoon;

could have been more courteous! :lurk_2:

Lucky you. :shakehead: I certainly have.

How did you give me the position that I want to suppress speech of people who disagree with me? There's no basis for that interpretation in anything I've written. At what point did I say that the captain should be prevented by law from arguing that banana's are bad luck? Or even not by law? The captain is free to argue whatever he likes. I am not required to respect or practice his beliefs though. And I am free to argue that they're silly.

That's sort of a random point you made. Could you please quote the portion of text that you think implies I am for suppression of someone's speech? Maybe I just don't see it.

i think i may have misread some of your earlier statements--my bad. but glad to know that your dive went ok. :)

What Lawyer is going to bring a case against a Dive Boat Captain over a banana? Every Judge is this country will throw you out of court.

the guy could always argue pro se (represent himself); there have been dumber cases, like the dc judge who tried to recover millions of dollars for lost pants (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/06/13/us/13pants.html?partner=rssnyt&emc=rss)
His was thrown out too, wasn't it? I'm sure a Texas Grand Jury would not bill a banana theft or assault case from the worst of the story in post 1, but if it did find a way to court - some Texas judges might impose Contempt jail time. They can be mean that way.

The Dry cleaner won.

The D.C. administrative law judge who sued his neighborhood dry cleaners for $54 million over a pair of lost pants found out yesterday what he's going to get.

Nothing.

The one time i bring a bannana on a boat we run out of gas, luckilly we were close enough to a dock that sacaquaman and I could push the boat in and find someone to take him to a gas station.
I ask you bannan or poor planning? He swears he's made that trip with the same amount of gas before...

how do you push a boat?

also, i've never heard of this superstition, but it's pretty interesting.
