Wow, 1200 calories per day is nothing (unless, I suppose, you're really short?) I just looked up some numbers on prevention.com and even if I was sedentary I should be getting over 1550 cals per day to maintain...go to slack-ass but not sedentary (can't remember what the next level is, "light activity" I think) it ups to 1850+ to maintain (1350+ to lose, the 500 loss as a combo of calories in and exercise, not just reduction of calories)!

Great for you getting to the gym and hitting it hard!!

Just out of curiosity, do we really want to live our lives sweating about half a donut?

I am short....just 5'2". And I should also mention that 1200/per day is to loose weight...not maintain...I should be able to eat anywhere from 1400 to 1600 a day to maintain my weight, once I get to where I would like to be....as long as I keep up the activity level I'm at.....which is 5 to 6 times a week. It sounds like a lot, but it's not too bad.....it really only means 30 minutes of heart-pumping work a day.

heheheh

ive only recently started looking at calories and im surpised by how little im having PLUS how hard it is it eat your quoata in good healthy choices!

if i was to have the bad foods (oak strawberry milk & croissaints) i can eat an entire days calories (1600) for breakfast but with the food diary, some days im only managing 1000 calaories and ive eating 3 meals and full - its alot of work eatinig healthy some days!

UUMMMM...OK...I saw that pic and nearly died! I started looking at calories in February....and was surprised at how little I was eating too......and then I started counting...and ended up snacking b/c my body wasn't used to eating fewer calories but more often w/o it.....which sounds weird, but there you have it. LOL

So...I'm starting to do better.....there's a lot of self control involved (I love snacking) AND I'm trying this new drink powder (sugar free) with some fiber & protien to help with cravings between meals...only 30 calories to drink a 16 fl oz water bottle with the stuff in it.........which is a lot better than a handful of corn chips or something else.

Off to work......and my legs are killing me! All that pushing in the cardio department is starting to linger......and I sneezed...coughed...something when I climbed out of bed and felt the ab muscles pull too....so, those are some good pains....good enough to push be back into the gym later tonight.

What's the power you're using. I thought about going back to using Slim Fast- that stuff has really helped me with snacking through the years- yeah, I know, I lot of calories. But it's skim milk. Better than a Snicker's bar or a bag of cheese pretzels!

Does it mix with water or with milk. I may just start drinking a glass of skim milk when I get hungry, but, unless I've got something that I really like to drink milk with, I don't care for the flavor of it. For some reason I crave milk when I have spaghetti- mom's influence, I guess.

yesterday was work cardio session and we had one of our sales managers workout in place of someone else and i really wished he didnt bother!

with all his chatting and carrying on the whole group fell to pieces and ended up talking about wine, raiding the snack machine and running off to the pub. doesnt help that i dont like the guy much either

anyways today was 6.15am toning and we're working on the fitball this month and still quite a workout!!

im going to be off the air for a couple of days as we going to bathurst for hubbys uni graduation :yeahbaby:

BTW I have been making sure Ms. D has been using her journal ;)

OWIE!! My balls hurt . . . jobs suck :rofl3:

Thanks for the great answers! I find it very interesting to hear more about people's journeys - helps, too!

I went out for a beach walk this morning - another 50 minutes and another 50+m added...I know it doesn't sound like much but I ran into a patch of sharp pebbles and decided not to go further LOL

Yesterday I still couldn't do the elliptical but I'm going to try again today.
Trucker - have you checked out the Health Tracker at Prevention.com: Diet, Health, Weight Loss, Anti-Aging, and More! You can actually add (more or less painlessly) foods in so you can tailor it more closely to what you really eat. I went over there to look around yesterday...I really like the magazine and the web site is full of good stuff, too!

alcina, when we win powerball, can hubby and i come live up there with you guys for while!!! its so beautiful

....UUMMMM...OK...I saw that pic and nearly died! .....

one of the aussie the biggest loser contestants said last week that his aim is never to weigh as much as homer simpson  and in a month since leaving the house he has already regained 9kgs or 18lbs!!!

so slow and steady is the plan so lets keep plodding along and make daily healthy and positive changes to make this long term!
