Maybe time for a new thread??

Why? we all know the conditions at the lake; low, cold and getting colder, crappy viz. At least this gives us something to talk about

i would have to agree, everyone on the board knows what to expect at Lake PLeasant. As for Catalina island I had a blast on my trip on the Sand Dollar. Alot fo students were on teh boat, but that usually means they are not diving alot, and I get to explore around in silt free water until they get in. Heck we were all there at one time or another so I am nto complaining, I actually enjoy helping them out to tell the truth.

The diving was so so though. Alot of surge in the areas we were in, well more towards the north end of the island. On the last day we ended up at little Farnsworth and dove there, not much of a current, but as we went to the dive park the current was ripping, alot of the students/sport divers could not make it back to the boat easily. Was rather interesting, no current at the beginning of the dive then it was like someone cut the rope.

Anyways overall a good weekend and everyone got back home safe and sound.

The Lake is rising...it is up 15 ft since Sept.... Just coming up slow from last year!!!

Wel to get back on track, dove the lake this morning and surprise surprise the conditions are still crappy. think we had a amazing 2-3 feet of visibility, I figured we would have had maybe one after all the rain. Water temps were around 64 at about 40 feet. Didnt; go much deeper since we were just working on descents and ascents from forty feet, stopping eveery 10 feet and hanging for a few minutes, lots of fun, haha. Wish I had an mp3 player for under water would make thos times much more interesting then doing nothing. Anyways hope everyone had a good weekend and that all is well.

Viz had improved this year, I think around may and sometime in June we had a whopping 35' at Scorpion bay, pretty cool, however next year I don't know what's gonna happen since the lake has been the lowest I've seen it and get it back to normal is going to take a lot of water, I don't know if that is going to be good or bad for the viz for the months coming.

Generally the best viz is around this time of year, when the lake is usually at or near full and the temps start to drop, I've seen 30' of viz in the lake for several days at a time on a couple different occasions between winter and late spring.

Off-Topic: Was on the Vision for 3 days in the Northern Channel Islands last weekend, 20-70' viz, none to slight current, a little surge, temps 51-55 all weekend. Here is Darin's quick trip report.

About 3 years ago, the water level was a lot lower. It should be full again by February.
