Last night, ScubaBoard was the victim of a malicious attack (by a hacker). While this hacker disrupted the regular operations of ScubaBoard, by disrupting our vBulletin software, he did not compromise our data at all. All of our data is 100% intact and secure.

However, some functionality within ScubaBoard (software wise) was disturbed, and will be restored shortly (search PM's, Anonymous posting, etc.)

Thanks for your patience. :)

Looks like there are still a few problems. I just got a "403 Forbidden. You do not have permission to access..." message for about 10 minutes on any link I tried.

Yes, that was noted.

We're currently restoring the disabled functionality, please bear with us.

Thank you.

No hurry on anything, guys. I'm sure you're doing all you can to get back to speed, but easy on yourselves, okay? It's a holiday week in the US, which could have something to do with the timing of the attack, and it's pretty late in Europe. Whatever you have time for is appreciated, but no need to push, okay...??

I would be interested in any news on the attack, if and when you'd care to release any. I do hope you have a good IP track. I have a hunch, but I'll keep quiet for now.

thanks again...!

As of 10 PM Eastern Time on November 21 - all functionality of ScubaBoard was restored to normal (as normal as it can be :joke:)

We thank any and all of you who were inconvenienced by this disruption of our normal service, which was caused by the malicious attack upon our server. I think its a testament to our commitment to our users that we were able to restore full functionality in less than 24 hours after this kind of attack, and that we were able to restore some functionality less than 12 hours after the initial attack.

On behalf of the SB support team, I would once again like to thank you all for your continued support, and patience/

P.S. - Don - there's no way that thread re-started itself

CSI Scubaboard. At least it is something we have not seen before.

Uh, Don, the first time I read post #5 I thought you meant that the first new poster in the very old thread was somehow responsible for the attack.....

if that's not what you meant, guess I need more coffee...

I'll never understand the mentality of people that enjoy destruction of something for the sake of causing other people distress.

Does this mean that SB has "arrived" if it's a target of this kind of cr*p? Kudos on restoration of service, folks, and great that no data was lost.
