The worst hangover I've ever had was after drinking too much of that Franzia crap. We thought it'd be fun to get roasted off something other than beer, back when I was at Auburn and too broke to buy liquor.

Drinking games + cheap wine = OMG NO.

I don't know you guys!
Rick :D

My parents had a box of wine in the fridge once (back when we were really poor as opposed to only semi-poor, lol) when I was really little and I thought the picture looked pretty, so--not knowing what alcohol was--I decided to get a cup of it. And that is the LAST time I ever drank boxed wine! Blech.

I’m a little surprised and shocked at the same time here. You mean to tell me there are no old farm boys here? Our drink being good old Southern Christians as we were came from a milk jug. Well sometimes it was a pint jar smoothest drink you could have (Mountain Dew). And on a special occasion like if the sun came up or it was a dandy if it went down we celebrated with some aged Hickory Corn Whiskey. It kept us warm many a nights while cat fishing all night

Granddad also kept dandelion wine for guest that dropped by from time to time. A coffee cup full is about all a person wanted. Hmmm Such fond memories of that old smoke house:D

generally I would agree with you... (but I've heard the stuff they sell at Target is pretty good though.... :rofl3:)
Mike I will choose to remain scared of it myself, but i did hear that the box comes in handy if you get sick after drinking it :D

One time I drank, Well I shared with my wife, a bottle of 200.00 wine on a cruise. It was great. I will probably never spend that for a bottle of wine again. Maybe a truck load.

maybe we should spin this off into the "Deep Dixie Diver Wine Thread". (note for once a thread about wine with no H in it. :)

As for high dollar wine, I took a bunch of customers out for dinner once and one of them kept ordering $100 bottles of wine. It was good, but I was getting a little nervous after he ordered the 4th bottle. I think I ended up leaving there that night with a $700 bill (for 5 people). It was damn good though.

You remind me of a Jerry Clower story in which he relates that in his growing up days Possum was a very fine meat. It kept the family in protein. However, as he matured and began to make his own money he realized that a 3/4 inch tenderloin from a Black Angus yearling beat the pants off possum every time.

Tom - if you want homemade licker at the party the by golly we will bring some. However, I think the smooth qualities of refined Puerto Rican rum will win out. I have to call Uncle Wayne and order us a half-gallon of aged (that's two-day old) Coosa County moonshine. However, with the drought this year I think he is using more rye than corn.

Of course, if you don't want it aged we can get some still warm from the condenser.

You can keep the dandylion wine - that's why we grow muscadines.

Mike and Snep - I have the distinct honor (In front of witnesses) to have thrown up a bottle of Dom Perignon Brut.
