I have latex and cut two rings and mostly regret it. When I first tried it on felt like I was choking, face turned red. And no, not in a sexual way. Once in about 20 dives I turned my neck in an odd way and had a very cold stream of water pour in. Also, a recent instructor said it looked a bit too big. Overall it's fine but I probably should have just left it alone.

I had to trim my neck seal and missed my first planned dive with my seaskin. Got suited up, was getting rest of gear on and stood up and almost blacked out. Trimmed one ring and suddenly I could breathe and didn't feel like I was blacking out. As others have said, sharp instrument(I used an xacto knife with new blade) and take your time. I used a 2 liter bottle in the neck and just rolled around the neck in one motion. Honestly I was scared to death thinking I was going to slip. Coat me the one dive but better than actually passing out in/under water

hindsight being what it is, but why didn't you try on the suit at your home prior to going to a dive site? I think everyone here has at least one photo of them in the suit at home... Any new equipment I test at home before basing a dive on it.

Try it on? Heck I might have slept in in my 1st night 🤣

I did. At home it was tight but not ridiculously tight. I listen to everyone saying it would stretch and better too tight than loose. I think part of it was wanting it to be okay and not wanting to risk messing it up.
The other thing was my old suit had neoprene neck seal which took me always felt very stretchy and didn't really notice to this new seal which everyone says is suppose to be tight.

I understand that completely. I think mine loosened up because I'm not very nice about pulling it on/off. Full beard means I stretch the damn thing a lot to avoid ripping my beard out lol.

I do not think silicone stretches? I "think" we just get used to it, used to getting it on and off.

It relaxes would be a better way of putting it I think. Mine caused purple head the first few times wearing it and was uncomfortable for the first couple dives. My new seal was the same way for 2-3 dives. There was a tangible difference in how they squeezed my neck with only 3 days between old and new.
