The First single hose reg

Where did everyone elses stuff go

Is that a working porpoise? If so, awesome kit you have there.

I have a very old single hose reg, a Rose Pro from Rose Aviation, circa mid-1950s, but it is not functional. My oldest functional single hose is a Healthways Scubair J, circa 1962 - 63, the downstream valve version, not tilt valve.

1965 vintage 1/4 inch custom (homemade my Mom) two piece, beaver tail wetsuit, including boots, mittens, and hood. Might still be useable had I not split the bottoms trying to see if they still fit15 years ago. The old adage “Hope springs eternal” is still valid! Voit combination depth gauge and compass. Homemade lead weights, two weight belts, and a snorkel. Two BFKs (why I bought these for spring and cave diving is still a mystery) round out my never will be used again box of dive gear. Correction: I still use the weights.

It has been said that "Necessity is the mother of invention"
And there is no finer or older example in our industry than the iconic design above.

Designed by Ted Eldred Victoria Australia around the early 1950's called the Porpoise CA
He made 3 variants the CA-1 2 and 3, Sadly he wasn't an American and therefore retained no public or industry acknowledgment for this masterful design.

So much was his influence that I can still name half a dozen diving component designs that were modelled in silent homage to the original master of diving design.

Who in our backwater industry of small workshop diving design and manufacture myself included have incorporated similar architecture features of this iconic model and have used some of the architecture elements of Ted's classic original style just to continue to piss that French prehistoric megalith off who for reasons of courtesy and good British manners I couldn't possibly name in forum.

The necessity part of my reference above was in order for Ted to break away from the hated French Emile Gagnan patent. In result to produce this masterpiece.

Happy Diver: Your not half wrong with that as a name especially with this in your collection.

Dude it's a welding regulator, with some other bits ha ha ha ha ha!

Still a brillant homage from you never the less

How about Teds rebreather
