When you are hoping for an Arctic blast because the ice is to thin.
When your dive gear includes a chain saw and a snow shovel

 If you need an ax or a chainsaw to get through the first few feet of water.. that is like God's KEEP OUT sign... and that is good enough for me. I will stay a wussies warm water diver... If I can't dive it in a 5 mil.. it aint worth diving! I can dive 15C (60F) in a 3mil so that leaves a little latitude!:eyebrow:

What? Only dive 1/2 of the year? Are you kidding???
:D

There is an advantage, you can sell students on PADI wreck/cave courses!

Living in Oz we get to dive year round. a couple years ago a cold front came in bringing water from the Antarctic.. it was funny. I did my stride off the rock ledge into the water first... surfaced and said.. hey guys it is cold.. it is like swimming in Canada! No one listened.. next person in... surfaced and said.. hey she is right it is COLD... no one listening yet.. next in.. surfaced pulled his reg out and said "It's cold" :eyebrow: everyone sounded like seagulls.. heat the water surface and squawk!

Water temp had dropped 5 degrees to 15 in less than a week. I was wearing my sharkskin and I will admit when we got out 90 minutes later .. my feet were numb! I was cold but enjoyed the dive too much to cut it too much shorter! The sharkskin is basicly 1.5- 2mil eqivilent.. I wear my 3 mil diving here in winter.

 maybe too well insulated:fear:

I don't know. I am pretty insulated too! Why that's the reason I don't wear only black. The other day I was napping during SI on beach dives and I heard a kid (brat) scream, "look Mommie, only whale is beached!"
Little twerp!

....when your cell phones ring tone is a "bubbles" sound so you feel nearer to the water.:)
(mine is!)

COOL! where did you get it!

You proudly wear a DUI test diver hat even though you have to explain to everyone that no you are not a DUI test driver and that DUI does not stand for driving under influance.

Your daily ritual when you get home from work or get up in the morning is to check your email, then log on to scubaboard, then check facebook.

You are out running around with the non diving spouse and go to the dive shop for just a few minutes and leave with a very angry spouse 2 hours later.
:D
