Many tech divers have never used DIN valves, and won't.

And, yoke valves are used extensively by tech divers on their stages - any real tech diver should know how to use, and have used, DIN and Yoke during technical dives.

What? Am I a "fake" technical diver because I don't/haven't and probably won't use yolk regs for stage/deco bottles? I sure hope I read that wrong...

To add to that, this is not a case of "To introduce a failure point with the rationale that "WHEN it fails I can more easily change it"." They weren't talking about changing regs due to a yoke failure; the very point was of a failure happening regardless yoke or DIN that requires a reg change, and in such case, which is faster/more reliable/more secure.

You read it wrong. I was stating to those who think that DIN is the only way to go, that there are tech divers who choose to use Yoke. I use DIN for technical dives, but I have used Yoke valves - never had a systemic problem with either.

For the folks that are saying that you have a buddy's gas breath off of while swapping regs - think a bit farther down the a shiiiit ladder. Piss viz, you get blown off the wreck, lose your buddy, all this after you have lost a bunch of gas just after you reach your turn point.

Still want to have a mix of DIN and Yoke?

As with "which gear or brand" discussions, this is something that ultimately the diver will rationalize in his or her own way & make a decision accordingly. There's no right or wrong way to do it. I personally only dive DIN, but when I get into diving where 4 & 5 stages are required, I'll be open minded enough to consider either as a viable option.

What kind of training are you in right now? I think knowing that will focus the discussion a little more.

DIN and only DIN. I have yoke adaptors in-case they are needed. However, I have seen a yoke reg blow an o-ring underwater and it makes it very exciting. DIN, not so much.

??? Not sure this is clear?

I use all DIN valves on all my regs..

BUT, I have seen John Chatterton use a yoke valve on his deco cylinders before.

;)
