what is the yoke on the first stage rated to? im about to switch to an hp steel tank (3442) and was wondering if i had to switch to din?

I think it is going to depend on the yoke. Yours may be marked to indicate the maximum pressure.
Many new yokes are marked for 3500 psi but there are a lot more rated for 3000 psi. The very old yokes were probably designed for LP tanks and, perhaps, 2500 psi.
If yous isn't marked, I wouldn't assume it is rated 3500 psi.
So, I sent 4 Oceanic first stages in to the LDS and had them install DIN fittings. Problem solved! It cost me $75 per stage for conversion.

DIN is a more secure connection, but if you travel, can be a little problematic as yoke valves are a more "universal" valve.
They do exist, and I have one, but I never liked it because it pushes the first stage too close to the back of my head.In that case, there are adaptors DIN->yoke that exist.
