Nope. It's downstream, like almost all modern regulators.
Someone should tell the manufacturer this. The paperwork included with the Reg calls it an upstream reg as do the tech support guys that I called. (Not being sarcastic, if it's not an upstream reg, they shouldn't call it that..but they sure do.)

The downside is what you said, a little bit of care in rinsing the regulators. Some people dunk the first stage by itself first, and then the second stage next after taking the first stage out. (I think you meant 1st stage above the second stage, not the other way around, but by using the method just mentioned, no need to hold the regulator above the rinse tank.)
Yep, that's what I meant. :) 1st above 2nd.

I just rinse them in flowing water while still pressurized, never soak them. I stopped soaking my regulators maybe 5 years ago, and my first B1 that's near 7 years old is still in top condition.
The first 3 trips I took with my Z1, keeping them pressurized and rinsed off really wasn't much of an option with the way the dive operator worked. Those trips were enough for me.

You sure about the $379.00? The website says $479.00.
Actually it's now $375.(LP's price) Scubatoys will match Leisurepro on it - I've called them about it previously. As will Divers Direct. And you get a mfr's warranty from Scubatoys.

Official word from Atomic - LP is not an authorized dealer, your warranty will be void. LP can not get our service parts, if you have any problem that occurs are you okay with another manufactures parts in your expensive regulator? They have not taken our service clinics or are authorized to repair equipment. Eventually you will need it serviced and you're going to need your authorized dealer then so establish that relationship now when you're making that important purchase on high end gear. Don't think LP is going to take as good of care of you or the product as your LDS will...

LP buys equipment on the gray market usually from someone who is desperate, going out of business and more than likely has been sitting on product for what could be years. We have had upgrades to our equipment and there is no guarentee you are getting the lastest and greatest version. I would also plan sending any regulators you buy there for a full service before use - again you have no idea how long it sat on someones shelf.
think about it.... you're spending a lot of money - make sure it's the real deal, and you have a full manufactures warrnty. Would you buy your Mercedes from an unauthorized dealer?

Non-authorized does not mean knockoff. Do you have any evidence that they are selling counterfeit regulators?

Theoretically, they cannot get your regulators either. Why can't they get your service parts the same way they apparently get your regulators?

Maybe they have techs that previously worked for an "authorized" dealer?

Depends on the LDS.

Why are there that many "desperate" LDS out there with your regs sitting on their shelf for years? And how is it OK for that "authorized" LDS to finally sell that dusty reg to a customer after years on the shelf but not OK to sell it to LP who will move it within weeks?

Maybe if the LDS could be more price competitive they could move inventory faster and wouldn't become "desperate". The online places move inventory at a much faster rate than your typical LDS.

If it was a legitimate Mercedes made in a Mercedes factory and I get a 25% to 50% discount? Absolutely.

OK,
Hypothetically, what actually happens to a Z1 that is left to soak for 5 or 10 minutes laying on the bottom of a rinse tank. (say, hypothetically in Bonaire)
I think I understood that water will get into the primary, which leads to what happening?
Is there a cure if you have done this without realizing it? (hypothetically)
Thanks

First thing you should do if this happens in fresh water is hook it up to a tank and just flush it out for a minute or two...salt water is a whole other ball game :shakehead

Cheers.

where do you get knockoff from what he (darcy) said about non-authorized?

Go ahead buy from LP and take your chances the quality, currentness of model, etc ... if money is all the criteria in which your using as a judge on such a high dolar purchase

Great post. Someone from Atomic want to address these points? Anyone?

What you don't want to do is pressurize it & blow water into the HP hose to your SPG. It can end up in the SPG itself.

If you have a wrench, remove that hose from the first stage. If you have a plug for the hole, plug it up before adding pressure. Then hold the purge in while opening the tank valve & that will shove most of the water out the LP hose through the 2nd stage. then purge any additional lines to get whatever water ended up in them.

If it's fresh water not much harm. If it's salt water it really needs to be serviced ASAP as the salt will cause corrosion.
