What is the Wrinkles Dive?

This is a monthly gathering of all divers and non-divers in SoCal who can make it. It's a lot of fun involving diving, eating, socializing and last December even camping!

It all started when our SoCal member, Wrinkles, mentioned to a group that she dove with that it would be really fun to be able to get together at least once a month. Pasley, took off with the idea and announced the first "Wrinkles Dive". The rest is history!

It's open to everyone of all skill levels from "I'm not certified yet" to "Do we really have to dive the Andrea Doria again?"

We've found this to be a great way to meet our fellow divers locally and many new dive buddies have been found though these "dive soirees".

RSVP:

I've started a ScubaBoard Calendar event for you to RSVP here:

http://www.scubaboard.com/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=297&day=2005-3-11

Please sign up on the Calendar. This will help us get an idea of how many people will be there so that we can set aside a space by the Casino that is big enough for all of us to hang out together.

If there will be more than one person in your party, please let us know how many will be in your party in this thread.

Other current Wrinkles threads and info:

Should we have a fixed rotation of locations for Wrinkles Dives

Should we have a fixed rotation of dates for Wrinkles Dives

Wrinkles dives will take place every 2nd Saturday of the month and we will occasionally have both a Saturday and Sunday included for an entire weekend of fun. Here is a tentative "fixed monthly schedule" of locations that is still being discussed in the above thread. (Your ongoing input will be appreciated and reflected here):

January - San Diego County
February - Orange County
March - Catalina Island
April - Los Angeles/Ventura County (between Palos Verdes and Leo Carrillo)
May - Santa Barbara County
May - Decide whether to go to San Luis Obispo (SLO), start again in San Diego, or insert a boat dive.

I'll update this post as we have more info.

Shouldn't the Title read March??? Anyone want to do some boat diving this day???

I missed that in all of my cut and paste madness! :11:

It would be tough to go back in time to do a boat dive. :D

I hope you can make it out to Catalina that day. Looking at weather.com it appears that we won't have any rain for about a week before we are there. Starting tomorrow it's supposed to be partly cloudy and mostly sunny right though that weekend.

Thanks for catching my typo.

Christian

Yeah right!

It was suppose to be cloudy/NO RAIN all this week.

Count me in! It'll be good to meet some people from the board.

I'll be diving in the Florida Keys. Would love to be home to be able to dive with everyone. Have a great time.

Conditions today (3/5/05) were 30-35 ft vis inspite of the weather last night. Should be that or better next weekend.

We're gonna miss ya! I bet you'll be having a great time in that really warm water though! :crafty:

It sounds very promising for conditions on Catalina for next weekend.

I'm thinking of staying somewhere on Friday and Saturday night, but haven't made up my mind yet. I'm thinking the Hermosa or the Atwater.

Hopefully, now that we have the county and time picked out in advance, we can see you at another Wrinkles Dive on the mainland sometime. That is, if you're not to spoiled out there.

I'll be with DJ and the crew of OCal wackos (I mean that in the best possible way) in San Nick.

So - any chance Ana will actually attend this one? What's Caesars got her at for attending MORE in 2005 than she misses? I'd give it 5 to 8 she misses more in '05 than she attends. Thats better than my Lakers actually making the friggen' playoffs... I'm too depressed and pissed off to speak about the Lakers - don't ask.

I'd say the odds of Ana making this one are like the Ravens winning the super bowl a few years back. Of course, I know a guy that took that bet and won! He put $1000 on the Ravens to win the Super Bowl at the beginning of the season. 64 -1 odds. He won $64,000! So...do you feel lucky? :11:

Now the odds of Ana making more of her events throughout the year than she misses, that's a tough one. I think she'll become a heavy hitter in the spring, summer and fall months providing that she's done with school. So, even money says that she makes 50% this year.

The REAL question is what are the odds that PuffMo2 makes ONE of these this year. I think the smart money has my man Puffy making TWO of these outstanding events by December. :crafty:

So, go ahead! Pick up the phone and call your bookies! Do it today; don't delay. Do it now! Remember: You can't win if you don't play!
