Walter?

That's a fancy hotel, if you want to go that way. I'd get some opinions on the Mexico forum tho.

Oh, some of the rules for driving in Mexico are different. If you want to turn left, but have to yield, then you pull off to the right and wait.

lol, that's awesome but not striking at all.

Francis, sounds like you made a good choice and yes, uncle is correct, diving is very addictive and you'll absolutely be back to Coz especially considering it is to accessible from N.America. I say this tongue in cheek but relative to Coz, if diving isn't you main purpose, PDC offers a lot more in terms of a typical beach/party vacation. I often wonder why people would go to Coz or Bonaire if they were not there to dive.

I do have some recommendations for you in PDC but I'm on my way to work out. Like Don said, you'll want to check out the Mexico forum. It may be a good idea to post a new thread inquiring about PDC there as well. You're likely to get much better and current feedback. But research the hotels. I'll look for you over there in a bit.

PDC doesn't have the drift diving like Coz, less challenging in some ways,

Not so. Usually when we cross the channel it has been to Tortugas which has a kick-*ss current. But I've been to a few other sites there as well and there has generally been current of some degree or another

My bad! :depressed: Yes, Tortugas has strong currents. I forgot.

Please, never hold your breath on scuba. It's a bad habit to even consider.

I edited previous post - thanks for pointing that out. I had meant (thought it was obvious) before going underwater. Many new divers have too much weight to make going down easier, then that extra weight makes becoming neutral so much more difficult.

I use just enough weights so that when I full exhale on the surface, I start going down, then breathe normally to the bottom or dive limit. Then remaining neutral is so much easier when below 10' or more, compared to having an extra 5 lbs or more.

As for all the other advice - I think us older more mature folk have to think back to when we were 21... I know I would not have wanted to waste precious time in buses and such. Just getting off Cozumel to Playa is an exercise in patience.

I fully expect these boys to go down to Mexico more than once.

If they split between two or three places, won't do much cost-wise, but will cost them time-wise relocating. If they are there for 7 nights, and the day they arrive they won't dive, and the last day & night - they should not dive - that leaves 5 days of two to four tanks.

Are there enough, different location, dives in the Cozumel area to justify 10 - 16 dives in five days?

If not, then they should live in two different spots...

Easily, but they are going to Playa del Carmen.

Walter...must of seen you around town. They film Breaking Bad all over the place here in Albuquerque.

FrancisK - would love a trip report on your return. Happy, safe diving! You may want to get a presrip for Cipro before your eating/beverage adventures. It would be awful to come down with Motezumas revenge on the first day and "blow" your trip.
