SeaHound:
There are lots of links that suggest that the runaway nun was Fatima Akmal Khan (my great grandma) but the only way it can be proven beyond any reasonable doubt is if I the wreck down below is the same wreck that is in the painting. Thats why I wanna dive this wreck! Hope this tells you why someone with 7 dives would wanna go down 200 feet.
are you trying to compare the ship on the painting with
the ship on the bottom of the sea to see if they are one
and the same? if this is the case, you do realize that
the wreck won't look like much by now, just a vague shape
covered in stuff?
or are you trying to prove that the Perisa lies in a certain location? in this case, what would that prove?
at any rate, you will need to identify the wreck either by
stern lettering (if they are still there), or, more likely, by finding
some object with the name of the ship (such as a bell, safe,
or some such).
this will entail not only going down to the ship at 200 feet but actually doing penetration dives, which will require training and patience to get to.
you are talking about a dive beyond the skills of 95% of the diving public.
that is not to say that you will not be able to do it; just realize that you have a huge learning curve ahead of you before
you can do it safely.
nothing on that wreck is worth dying for, not even your family history.
