the england formations was flawed in the first place with rooney playing as a lone striker,he couldnt get anything coz he had not much support...if there was another striker it might have been a different story...

bingo... as much as I relished England's defeat last night, I think Erikkson's pathetic strategy or lack of one lead to England's ultimate demise. Who's to blame for Rooney blowing his top? Hell I would have popped Sven if I was Rooney for sticking with that single striker formation! I think Sven should be hung and quartered in Tralfalgar Square...

Throw him into the middle of english mob:D

Kim:
Lennon played really well. Crouch came over (again) as a clumsy stick-insect. What with Rooney trying hard to be another Paul Gascoigne and blowing it (although a somewhat questionable red card IMO) we never had it in attack. It was heartbreaking to watch created chances just slip away for want of someone to actually finish them.
In the end though they held the Portuguese for around an hour with a man less, and created more shots on goal during the same time - not bad.
The penalty kicks were appalling but served to clearly show where the whole problem lies - getting the ball into the back of the net.

Kim, i'm glad that even you agree.

Actually, i think Crouch's biggest issue is the perception created by comparing him to Rooney. I think the American adage of "Tremendous Upside Potential" is relevant here: Rooney has it, Crouch does not. I hope Rooney's career doesn't replicate Gazza's because the potential is there.

If he had yellow feathers, Crouch would look like Big Bird...

Harsh. Very harsh. I guess it is a case of to the winners go the spoils of victory.

As for the rest......they will be just a long lost memory in another week.

Freds@Aquanauts:
Yesterday we didnt have another striker, save for that poor kid Walcott...

Eriksson should never have sent Jermaine Defoe home... :shakehead

Becks has given up his captaincy

Who should the next captain be -- Steven Gerrard or John Terry?

H2Andy:
i'd like to bet that Kim is still behind me in the points

so who's in the lead now that both Kim and your top teams have lost?
