wireless transmitter question

Chris,

just received my new LED wireless transmitter and noticed some difference's between it and the old one.

Primarily I was concerned about these slots/gaps that occur on the the transmitter,

Are those supposed to be there and what function do they serve, seems like water would enter there.

Please advise

Those slots are only for opening the housing of the transmitter. The O-ring that seals the case is located inside, therefore no water can travel past those slots.
