Question on Compass Point, seems like a pretty tight schedule between morning and afternoon dives. Is there typically enough time to head back to the room, grab a sandwich and catch the afternoon boat?
As long as you're staying at Compass Point, grabbing a sandwich and catching the pm boat should be fine. If you're staying someplace else, like The Reef or Morritt's down the road, it doesn't really work to go back (though IIRC you may be able to leave a lunch in their fridge in the shop.)

^^^exactly. I had no trouble going back to the room and having lunch before the afternoon dive

Thanks all! Certainly sounds like CC is not the best option for December... I would love to give CB a go, but every time I think about it I just come to the conclusion I may as well go to LC if I'm already going to do another flight (not bothered by the otters at all...). I can't argue with your choice, we are going back to LCBR again later this year! But I like all 3 of the Cayman islands for similar and different reasons and I am glad that I have had the opportunity to visit, explore, and dive all 3 of them.

I think that the Little Cayman diving is best and the LCBR is a great place and the island is small and lovely.

I like the CBBR better than LCBR, even before the remodeling, and the food is better and I like the island of Brac better than Little Cayman. It is an interesting and funky little place to explore. The diving is very good and if you like wreck diving then you should dive the Russian Frigate at least once.

I like Grand Cayman for the easy shore diving and snorkeling options (and the boat diving is good, too) and I like many of the topside activities and options. I don't much care for the highly developed Seven Mile Beach area or for the venues that are over run with cruise ship passengers - but it is a large island with many options and I can stay away from the 7MB and visit the most popular sites, restaurants, and shopping during quiet times, if I desire - but you need to be willing to rent a car and drive on the left! There's a lot to see and do on GC.

Here's an article I posted some time ago comparing the 3 Cayman islands:

Ok, we are booked for CBBR. It better be spectacular or one of us is in trouble  Man these AI places prices are creeping up there. I may never be able to retire at these rates! Hopefully the weather holds. We have been lucky each time at LCBR Nov/Dec, hopefully this year as well! I'll have to give GC a go one of these days... Been trying to work it out to Saba and I think that will have to be on our short list. Thanks for all of the info folks!

If you would like to do a lot of great diving in the Caymans (as long as the weather cooperates) then spend a week on the Cayman Aggressor diving off all 3 islands!

Thanks. The idea always sounds attractive, but we like coming back to a "normal" non rocking room at the end of the day  We sail so spend plenty of time on boats...

All the dive sites in the Caymans are easily and quickly reached from land-based operations. Personally, I use my liveaboard time for less accessible sites. If you can only go once, it's a good way to dive both Grand Cayman and Little Cayman, avoiding the extra flight and maximizing your number of dives
