Why WOULDN'T you use backup gauges with an AI computer?

Sure - if you're concerned about reliability.

But I will agree that if you are terrified of the gear you are using, then perhaps it is not the gear for you.

Really, it ain't that big of a deal. If the AI crap quits, dive over. Anyone should be able to safely get to the surface without gauges.
And if that SPG crap quits, hey - look - same solution.

yep, that's my point exactly.

I don't have any of that AI or wireless stuff, but it's pretty cool. Hell, I don't even use a computer.. my bad! :D
