I've never understood what all of the fuss is about re: peeing in wetsuits. After all, unless one has a urinary tract infection, urine is pretty close to being sterile.
That is what I was taught; urine, except in the case of a UT infection, is sterile.

WOW and to think that I was embarassed to even think about peeing in my wet suit. I'm definatly going to do this from now on and even teach the kids to do it!! They will LOVE IT!!!

The whole family dives/snorkels

If you Pee in your Dry suit, then you can call it a wet suit and your all set to pee again

I did 1:24 at 75 feet this past week at Palancar Gardens in Cozumel. I think I peed four times during that dive.

Cheers!

Four times in 1 and 1/2 hours?? :11: You must have TB, Tiny Bladder that is!

The smell between and after dives coming from people who do is just rank.

If they smell that bad then it means they were bordering on dehydration anyway. If you drink plenty of water and stay well hydrated then the urine doesn't smell too bad.

_Bella_:
Would you pee in your bath water while you're still soaking?

No, but then the toilet is quite handy as it is right next to the tub. I've yet to run across a porta potty at 80'.

... so if you find yourself UNABLE to pee, that means you're probably not relaxed enough? On my final OW Cert dive, I had to pee so bad.. but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. And I wasn't even wearing a wetsuit, either.

Some mental blocks are just hard to get over. :)

It doesn't make you colder in the long run. There is a constant exchange of water in and out of a wetsuit. The wetsuit doesn't prevent fluids from getting in or out, it just slows the process.

Really depends if your wetsuits fits well or not. I won't pee in my new one as it fits snugly and I couldn't flush away during the dive.
