MikeS:........ Despite the fact that how to do it right has changed over the few short years Ive been involved in SCUBA.
IMO if DIR was such a superior diving system it wouldnt need such protectionist measures. In fact it doesnt on other boards such as the deco stop.
Who decides whats a troll post?

Genesis:I think it speaks volumes that a particular group of divers, and a particular diving style must be protected from people "questioning" (some would call that "attacking") it..... but of course its all ok if other diving styles are agencies are bashed/attacked/questioned.
Specifically, it speaks to the fragility of the claimed "system" or "dogma" when one must protect it against inquiry - even virulent inquiry.

Do you have to take a class for this to know this? I havent taken a GUE class yet but I plan to. Not because Uncle Pug (sorry to pick on you), blast people that dont, but because I think that it provides a path for working on personal skills that PADI doesnt.detroit diver:And you know this because of which GUE classes you've taken?
This is a non-arguement. TDS is quite diligent about trolling. They just won't warn you. They'll pull the thread immediately. They do it quicker because they're smaller.
I could be wrong (yeah - it happens - a lot, actually!), but I don't think someone posting an opposing view or questions why a configuration or technique is considered "right" or "wrong" is a troll. Seems the troll designation comes from HOW the view is presented?chrpai:... but other people cant go into DIR forum and post their views.
chrpai:Hence the problem. DIR types can come around to any forum and post their views, but other people cant go into DIR forum and post their views. Very unfortunate.

For instance - can you tell the difference here? it's basically the same question:
"Why does DIR frown on solo diving?"
vs
"Why are DIR divers so insecure that they need to always dive with a buddy."
