You absolutely can get insurance pricing without paying for membership. It’s definitely not obvious or convenient, but it does work.

Here’s how:
  • Go to Dan.org
  • Click Join
  • Fill out the first page with info about yourself or about a fake person. Make sure the person’s age is close to your real age because I think the insurance costs are based in part on age of the covered person.
  • Go to second page and pick Select Coverage. This will show the prices of all 3 insurance plans.
  • Cancel here if you don’t want to join. You haven’t had to provide a credit card or any real information about yourself.

Seems to me filling out the DAN form with fake information could result in a denied claim should there be an accident. Maybe not but why do it?

Why can't they just post it right there on the website where anyone can read it? Why isn't there an easy to find link to the current member handbook?
There are some 600 different prices/handbooks; the HB is different for each combo of individual vs family, regular vs enhanced, and the three accident insurance plans, and for each state of residence. Here are two point of reference: (1) the cheapest membership is $40 (on their website) and the cheapest accident plan is $42 (also on their website),so $82/yr. My Family, Enhanced, membership plus the Virginia-resident Guardian (highest level) Accident plan, is $353 per year.

If you spent more time reading and talking on the phone and less time making wild accusations and spewing hate you'd learn all this.

THANK YOU!
Finally some useful information.

Dude, just pay your membership and go at it.
You can not even walk into Costco before looking or shopping without paying a membership. fee.
Think of DAN insurance the same way.
Dude,
1) Not familiar with Costco. We have Sam's Club & you can see all prices online.
2) If I ask friends & neighbors "What's the price for a brand X model Y washing machine at Costco?", I guarantee not a single person would tell me "You have to join first."
3) I'm not buying a washing machine. I'm buying something that may, or may not, affect my life or health.
4) I don't have cash to just "go at it".
5) I don't know about you, but I actually READ a contract before I sign it.

I don't know about you, but I actually READ a contract before I sign it.
Which is why you can cancel your DAN policy with no penalty (for a period of time) once you've gotten the materials.

Thanks to traiano for posting how to find the information I'm looking for.
Thanks to @tursiops for filling the "Call DAN" spot from my first post.
As for:

Gee thanks Capt. Helpful! I would have never thought to spend, no less than, 6 hours over the last few days reading through forum posts and scouring the internet and the DAN website in search of the answers that I was looking for. Please forgive me, your majesty, for my ignorance and daring to question the almighty DAN.

As far as "making wild accusations and spewing hate", what's got you so butthurt like your missing out on a commission if I don't buy DAN coverage?
Please feel free to quote my "wild accusations" and my spewed hate below as a lesson to any that might question the authority of the almighty DAN.

Just as a refresher:
FACT - Nowhere on the DAN website is insurance coverage pricing available until AFTER you provide your personal information to include Name, D.o.b., Address, Phone #, email address, and a password.
FACT - I emailed DAN directly requesting documentation for the different plans & pricing and instead of the requested documents, I was told to provide a phone number.
FACT - These tactics are commonly associated with high pressure sales &/or scammers.
FACT - Your responses have not really been helpful. (The terms "teats & boar hogs" comes to mind.)
Your quote "There are some 600 different prices/handbooks; the HB is different for each combo" seems to imply (at least from my perspective) that posting the prices and details for all of the different options would be next to impossible. Yet, one person in the thread proved that it could be done.
FACT - I never said anything negative about actual DAN coverage.
FACT - Okay. More of a 'fact based opinion' - "DAN's marketing practices are shady AF!"

The ONE thing that i was mistaken on is that you do not, in fact, have to JOIN DAN before being allowed to see prices. They do, however, want your personal information first.

Since you hate DAN so much, and spending more time and energy ranting here than researching your insurance options, just look at a different insurer. Here's an example, be sure to click the button *on the right* for policies written in FL.

I'm getting back into diving after 15 - 20 years and decided to renew my DAN coverage, but what a PITA!

To put things into perspective, I paid $25, and later $35 iirc, for DAN membership which covered pretty much everything (transportation, medical, chamber ride, etc...) that a diver would need in case of a diving accident within the U.S. This was perfect! Everything a diver would need and nothing you didn't. Travel coverage was available for an extra cost, but if you didn't plan on leaving the U.S., your DAN membership was all you would need.

So I just went on the DAN website to get some info, but it appears that you have to become a member before they will even tell you what is covered, what isn't, and what it will cost!? Seriously???

That's kind of like going to a restaurant and not being allowed to see the menu prices before you order a meal. In my experience, those places tend to be the "If you have to ask, you can't afford it" kind of places.

Everything that I find on the internet has to do with travel insurance, gear insurance, or US vs EU coverage. The topics will then wonder off into anecdotes about how great DAN is or how bad or, my personal favorite, "call DAN!" response. To me, that's like asking someone about their model vehicle because you're thinking of buying one and they tell you to call the dealership. -Gee! Thanks a lot captain helpful.

Any of the documentation that I was able to find is so obfuscated and written in such a way that it would take a Harvard Law School graduate to untangle the circular references and terms that seem to have no precise definition! Having to pay before you can even see the price and the way their documents are written, gives me a major scammer/used car salesman vibe. (That money you spent on your cars extended warranty doesn't feel so bad until something breaks & you find out that certain wording allows them to refuse to cover it.) To quote Tommy Boy - Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will.

Does DAN membership still cover domestic diving accidents? Example: I'm diving 60 miles off the coast of Florida (my home state) and I get bent, the Coast Guard sends a chopper to fly me to the nearest hyperbaric chamber where I'm treated for DCS along with any other diving related injury. Will DAN cover the cost?
Have you thought about calling DAN…. and asking these questions :D

Oh Look!!!
The impossible to publish plan prices, and link to the associated member handbook.
