DAN says on their website that their membership & insurance go into effect immediately after payment:

After joining, how long does it take for my benefits to become active?


Membership and insurance go into effect as soon as DAN receives payment. You can get immediate coverage by joining online or by calling 1-800-446-2671 and paying by credit card (Discover, Visa, MasterCard or American Express).
However, I noticed that the issued policy starts on 1/1/2025. (the actual PDF with the actual policy)

Not sure why the discrepancy, and curious if anyone else noticed that - and if anyone has any experience with making claims the same month as the purchased policy. I reached out to DAN to clarify the start date of the policy.

So in the email I was assured that the insurance is valid... even though the paperwork seems to indicate that it becomes active on Jan 1st. Super confusing - I might try to give them a call tomorrow.
 
Get it in writing.
