Why don't they make an HP tank same size as a 72?

If the 72 had 3442# it would be a 100 cuft tank. I find my PST HP 100 rather reminiscent of the 72 when diving, and it is about the same size as I had to stop a tank monkey from putting the full 3442 in because he thought it was a 100. So I think the new 72 is the PST HP100. I have not dove a LP85 so I have no comparison on that.

There are more ways than one to skin a cat, however the cat never likes it.

When I started my deep diving( 200 to 280 ft) in the early nineties, I used double 72's filled to 3000.... Obviously I never had a problem, but that is not proof for anyone else.

You guys are not following the rules.... It's " OTHER PEOPLE " fill it to 3000+...

JIM.....

I've had young kid tank fillers fill my 72's to 3000 not knowing what they were ( probably thought they were AL80's) but that was down in SoCal.
Up here they are a little wiser, I need to beg for 2500. I found out they way to do it is tell them I'll be back later so they can let the tank cool a bit and make sure it's topped up. I make a point to tell them that I can't stand weak fills and when the tank hits the 50 degree water I like to see 2250. That means at least 2500 on land.
I have an E7 100 which is very nice, but something about the 72 that's just perfect, except just not quite enough air. I like them for hikes down goat trails to the water doing quick recon dives and hunting. They are light and easy on the back.

I use 72's exclusively now as they are my all time favorite tanks. They are cheap to find up here in NorCal. I got tired of putting up with dive shops (under fills) so I bought a used Bauer compressor and routinely fill my own 72's to 2600-2700. :D That makes them into a 75/77 cuft tank. I have not had any problems in doing so. Like Eric said they are great beach tanks and fit nice in my kayak. I also have yet to have one of my 6- 72's fail hydro.
