Why can't this thread just die.

Because people keep posting in it. ;)

A better question might be "Why do people post complaints in threads they have no interest, rather than just ignore them?"

I ditched my snorkel as soon as I passed OW. Only use it in the tropics now when...snorkeling.

As to a leaking mask, sometimes I find mine will leak a fair amount. I rip the mask completely off and then put it back on after making sure my hair (Being a male I keep my hair pretty short) is out of the way. Most of the time this cures any leaks and I can continue the rest of my dive without having to clear continually. Plus it is a good skill to practice. My Otter Bay hood overlaps my mask skirt to keep me warmer. I also keep a backup mask in my pocket, in case of mask failure, which has happened, or my buddy knocking it off my head with their special fins, which has also happened.

I'm with TSandM, I bring my snorkel for my cave trips.

3 years ago, we spent a week in Akumal bay in a beach side hotel. Not once did we step in the ocean, but if we had a snorkel we would have. One of the bays is supposed to be very nice for snorkeling.

Now, we bring our snorkels. Just in case we have the itch to snorkel/freedive.
