I do not know where else to ask this about the June Cozumel trip...... If it is 5 days of divinn - Monday thru Friday, what's happening on Saturday??? what will people be doing on Saturday if the departure date is Sunday? Will some from the group dive on Saturday too? or return home early? Also, how many people are in the group? ANyone from South Florida?
I have some ideas and suggestions for Saturday in addition to the few dozen offered on http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/invade-cozumel-june-12-19-2011/367358-things-do-cozumel.html but thot I'd wait until the trip closes.

Just go. It'll be great. If you don't like the air rates into Cozumel, Spirit has $273 RT into Cancun that will work. Just arrive as early as possible, leave in the afternoon, and do the bus & ferry bag drag many of us know so well.

I'm from Hollywood!:happywave:

Laila, I just got a price alert from Kayak.com. Fare dropped $38 since yesterday for the week of June. FYI...

I'm glad I booked when I did... I wish I would have booked earlier, but... That's what I get for procrastinating.

I decided to check the flights after reading your post, and now most of the flights (Delta from Melbourne) have 19-23 hours of travel time... meaning.. I wouldn't get there until Monday... The one flight left has gone up about $40.

Looking forward to Coz! I haven't been there since 81.... I'm sure it has changed.

Smit -

Bring your wife... My wife is a certified non-diver. (She's certified, but doesn't like diving) So far, she has gone on every big dive excursion with me. She even went to DEMA with me last November. When I'm diving, she tours the countryside... reads books.. knits... and just enjoys the peace and quiet...

As for finding a buddy... I've never had a problem finding one... so... don't worry... you'll have a buddy...

When I run Kayak/Sidestep searches, the next step for me to uncheck those overnight connections usually, with exceptions for eastbound planes that actually fly thru the night. Long, overnight layovers in airports are just bad, hotel room or not - altho we do what we got to do with adventure travel and sports at times. Of course, leaving Saturday to arrive Saturday or Sunday is an option.

Glad you are booked; got seats selected? If you know anyone else there who wants to go, I see CO MCO 8:50a CZM 2:20p: 6h 30m/ CO CZM 3:25p MCO 10:13p: 5h 48m for $536 Sunday to Sunday, and I have paid more at times.

Or Spirit has flights MCO to/from Cancun at good times for $378 and the bag drag ain't that bad with that much saved.

We are actually coming back on Monday instead of Sunday since it was $70 cheaper per person that way. We will probably be diving on Saturday and Sunday morning if anyone wants to join us. The last time I looked, I think the group was up to about 50 with maybe 1/4 of them being non-divers (for now).

The fare to COZ was in the $480 range, but when I booked the flight back, I ended up at $543 R/T. Then there was $120 in tax. Ouch!

I saw the flights to Cancun, but I don't like the stress of the unknown... I like getting to where I want to go... So... I decided to pay extra and go to Cozumel.

$663?! :shocked2: Sounds like you were booking on an airline site? Generally the worst place to shop; they will really jerk you around. Next time you need to shop for air, try Kayak.com, check nearby airports to consider if the price is right (it's not far to Orlando), and/or let me try to help. But for this trip, it's done so just look forward to the good times at the other end.

Sure, I agree - flying into Coz instead of Cancun with the bus & ferry bag-drag is worth paying at least $100-150 more as it is more hassle plus bus & ferry costs, and I think Spirit charges more for luggage. An option to consider, especially if the flight had been non-stop - but it wasn't.
Have a good trip. :pilot:
