$398 each out of Denver plus $348 in damn taxes. Amazing huh. Can'w wait to see what the baggage costs are. Might have to sear my rig on board.
Haha where did you find that? I've seen sites that quote low prices then high taxes & fees. Not my idea of honesty - worse than airline sites.

I found you American last month: DEN-CZM for $564. Go 7am-1:30pm, return 1:40pm-7:30pm, but it came down to $529, or I see Continental at $556 and they allow one check bag free in addition to roll-on & backpack. I like the way that Kayak.com includes taxes in quotes, but even AA.com only breaks it down as 408.00 + $121.17 taxes.

Oh well, as long as you get there. Have a great trip.

Is there any other way of joining other than by phone call?

Hi Thanshin

Be sure to put Scubaboard Cozumel Invasion as the title of your email.

Hope to see you there

Done.

This is getting great very fast.

Time to read the long Cozumel Invasion threads. :)

Welcome to the Invasion! :D
I'll add you to the map when Cardzard gets the update on Friday. What city in Spain are you from?
Here's a link to the map that shows where everyone is coming from so far...

And when you have time ,you can check out all the other info in our main thread.
Invade Cozumel- June 12-19, 2011 - ScubaBoard
You'll find info there about the hotel, things to do on the island besides diving, and many other subjects. Feel free to post if you have any questions. :)

Well, I've made our deposit. I can't wait to get back to Cozumel! I'm currently researching airfare from home and Houston. Should I go ahead and pull the trigger or is there likely to be a price drop? How difficult is the bag drag to and from Cancun? Is there anything worth seeing up there if we extend our stay by a day and drive up there on Sunday to insure we make our return flight? I was even thinking of renting a car in Cancun and dropping it off in PDC on a one day rental. Has anyone done that?

I enjoy these puzzles, trying to beat the airlines that try to beat us, and glad to offer opinions. Just remember that you have to live with your decisions. :D

Well, Waco and Austin are only 11-13 miles further than Houston, right - and Waco used to have free parking. Using Kayak.com/Sidestep.com (I don't trust airline sites for pricing either) to check all four to either Cancun or Cozumel, I found Sun Country from AUS-CUN for $386 (I don't know their bag fees?), Continental from IAH-CUN for $396 (1 checked bag free and I have other reasons for preferring Cont), or Continental/United IAH-CZM for $404 - so no way I would go thru Cancun unless I wanted to spend extra days on the mainland.

I would jump $404, but your call.

The bag drag from Cancun is not bad, but it ain't fun. Bus & ferry will run $25 extra each way, cabs more. If you just want to do Cozumel, fly to Cozumel RT at that price.

I would not rent a car in Cancun to drive an hour to Playa del Carmen; too costly and too much hassle. The buses are actually nice. Now there are sights worth seeing on the peninsula if you want to arrive a day or two early or stay one or two later. You could even fly into CUN and back from CZM or the reverse: called Open Jaw ticket in airline jargon or Multi city on booking sites with no penalty. The ruins I would suggest are not on the way to Cancun tho. See Mayan Ruins Mexico: Yucatan Peninsula Mayan Ruins, Mexico

Rental company with no drop charges and good rates including insurance: Easy Way Cancun Car Rental: your Cancun Airport Rental Car

Or you could expand the trip enough to include Holbox or Isla Mujeres to swim with Whale Sharks. :cool2: I did 3 nights at Holbox, 2 days swimming with the Dominoes and loved it if you're up for that much, and Holbox is a wonderful, unpaved village. Just depends on how much you want to plan before plane tickets got up?

Thanks to all for your kind responses to my post.

I'm going to get everything locked in tomorrow, and I'm soooooooooo excited to be a part of this! I've always had a fascination with coral reefs and marine life so this will be a dream come true for me. :D

I do have another question though, or a couple questions. Do you need a visa, in addition to a passport, to travel to Mexico? And is the trip insurance a wise investment?

I might have the terminology wrong on the trip insurance question, I saw that somewhere can't find it again.

Thanks for all the help!
