(Mods, please don't move this so that all Conchs can see it)

I figured this might make a good dive trip for a few Conchs to undertake:

WHERE: the USS Oriskany
WHEN: Sometime in June
COST: $200 per person (full day); $125 per person (half day)
AVAILABILITY: Maximum 6 people

the idea is to book with Dave Mucci in Pensacola for a full day of diving
the Oriskany. he comes highly recommended:

we could meet there on a Friday night, have dinner together,
and then go diving on Saturday

anybody interested?

I will probably be in Destin for a few days in June, sometime between the 9th and the 18th, but still not exactly sure of the dates yet...I plan on heading to p'cola one day and doing this dive for sure....let me know what you line up and I will try to make my schedule fit

will do... hope you can make it

$200 Ouch!

I'm looking to dive it this summer, especially after being out there today for her going down.

we could do a half day (two dives) for $125

i'm flexible

(if you pay individually, it's $150 for two dives)

Launched from Orange Beach today on a charter for $150 at 5AM and got back at 5PM :p Did two dives and saw a big ole carrier sink.

Would love to get a dive or two in on this wreck. Are you planning on doing a recreational or technical trip? From the "Rules" posted in the other thread it sounds as though these boats won't mix rec with tech. I've been trying to get some people interested in making the long treck up that way sometime in July. Keep us posted on the dates you have in mind and maybe we can join you.

those that know more than me, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong...but from what I can tell there is one op that will combine tek and rec.....http://www.divemightyo.com/
I can see the reasoning behind splitting these two disciplines, but speaking personally, I don't mind a long SI in order to accomodate the tek folks...as a guy who would one day like to do some more technical diving, it would be a pleasure to spend a day on a boat full of tek guys to check out their equipment and get some good advice from them

If the plan is to do a double dive on the wreck, seeing as it's so far off shore, if everything is planned right it shouldn't mess with your SI as we'd just do one long dive while the rec folks do two shorter dives. No moring balls on the wreck means that it's unlikely that the boat would move between dives as it would be a major pain to rehook the wreck and set the line so we'd just splash with the intent of doing a 60 to 80 minute dive and exit the water while the rec folks are getting ready to get back in for their second dive. We've talked about doing this very thing on the Grove and a couple of boat operators have said that it was doable.

I don't have a problem with rec folks on the boat when I'm doing a tech dive as long as it's not a cattle boat. Had that problem a few weeks ago and talk about a cluster F#$%. We do have a lot of gear and with 34 divers on the boat it wasn't a pretty site with us having to crawl over people to get to the back of the boat with all that gear on.
