I will not name names here, but one of the dive shops mentioned here as a favorite, combining brick & mortar and Internet sales, absolutly butchered our reg setups when we purchased them. There was nothing real confusing ... common reg w/ octo-inflator (no need to get into that argument here). There were hoses coming out of some real weird places. One of the owners of the shop (a name you'd recognize) called and apologized profusely.

However, I took that experience as an abberation; I still buy from them regularly. So the moral is, you can't have blind faith in recommendations ... they're only a guide.

I had an excellent experience with Dive Right In Scuba, (sometimes the new guys try harder!)

also Scubatoys and Leisure Pro

I have bought gear from ScubaToys, Deep Sea Supply, Divetank, Divesports, Tech-Blue, Diverite Express, Leisurepro, and Cameras Below. In each case, I have been happy with the service I received.

Scubatoys for me... If you are a member of this board or the ir forum you get 10% off, and if you post 10 times in thier forum you get a gift certificates worth $10.

I just bought a pair of bio-fins and used my discount, plus if my fins don't fit they have sent a pre-paid label to ship them back and send me the right size at no cost to me.

Talk about quality service right there.

Is there something special you have to do to get the discount if you are a member of scubaboard?

When you make an order, ask for the SB discount.
I use Scubatoys frequently, but shipping from TX to Boston takes too long sometimes.
I find that LeisurePro usually has what I need at the best or close to the best price and they have fantastic shipping and the stuff is easy to find on their web site. I usually get it either the next day or 2 days later.
Returns with them is a breeze too as it is with ScubaToys I'm sure.
I spend various amounts of money in 3 or 4 LDS' as well.
