If you are interested in a cold water reg why include the Mk 25 when the Mk 17 is far superior?

Add a Mk 17 G250 option and I'd pick it over anything else available.

Ok thanks, wasn't sure if I had missed something

That DVT is pretty cool, it keeps pressure in the hoses when the regulator is removed from the tank. You can literally submerge the entire regulator without the 'dust cap' (no it's not a water cap, not meant to keep water out just dust - not everyone realizes that) on and no water will get in the first stage. We use Oceanic regs at the Tennessee Aquarium.

I just went wife with one of my wife's friend to help her pick out her gear. She end up getting the gt3 with the dvt. It is a really nice reg. Oceanic makes a pretty nice reg.

Speaking of the suggested Conshelf:

Not the easiest brand to find servicing or parts availability for. But it is a good reg.

The Conshelf is an Aqua Lung BRAND product and having been around forever is easy to get parts, service anywhere and because it is a simple regulator it is also easy to do yourself. All metal, it is very durable and reliable.

Thanks, but it is not that easy to find part for. Especially when I was in Asia, and not to many places carry it in Germany where i also live. Think there is only one place I know in NYC. I will have to check with an AL dealer next time I am in Germany to see if they service them. Thanks again.

All MK17/G250's for me in the conditions you are asking about.

I'm with DA Aquamaster, why include the MK25 if you are wanting Ice, Cold, and Deep performance?

I'm no expert, but I think the ice part would make the MK25 not a good choice at all. Depth wouldnt affect it, , nor would cool water, but since it's not environmentally sealed wouldn't that present a possible problem using it in very cold/ice water?

Just a thought...

Not true, just because the "LDS" does not stock the Conshelf model does not mean they do not have the parts, the Conshef first is a generic Aqua Lung unit, external appearence varies but many of the internal parts swap between models. It is the most simple of first stage designs, has been around forever and parts are everywhere any Aqua Lung product can be serviced. It is simply a fact.

Conshelf for example:

and compare to Titan:

Titan 1st Stage Service Manual - Page %CURPAGENUM% of %LASTPAGENUM%

The second stage seat is a generic piece, common to a variety of models, it is just a very simple regulator to repair and service. There are legit reasons some might prefer a different model but lack of parts is not one of them. Hope this is helpful.

It is a dirty little industry secret that ALL of the "brands" play. They change the external appeance and call it new, improved, different graphics, maybe add a cool feature but internally most of the parts are the same. It is just a way to get you guys to buy the new model.

Thanks again, I will look into it the next time in Germany. I like the fact that they are all metal reg not plastic.
