It's more of a you think you know what is going on, until you don't and need help.So you are going to wait until on you are on a rocking & rolling boat to figure out what your dive computer is telling you? Wouldn't it be better to learn it and play with it long before you set a foot on the boat?? What's even better, get a dive computer that is very easy to use and understand, practice with it prior to going on a boat and be happy, I am talking about Ratio computer here.
FYI, I NEVER get on a boat with brand new equipment and learn to use it there. I ALWAYS play with new equipment, even a new mask, in the pool or on a shallow shore dive prior to making an even remotely challenging dive with it. This is what I am doing now with a new dive computer I just got, the SP HUD.
Yes, in a perfect world you get a new toy, you learn every feature and understnad it perfect before it ever touches the water. Then there is reality that the rest of us live in.
To the OP, good choice. You will enjoy it. The more you use it, the more you will understand it. The tissue loading bar graph I nerd out on as I watch different compartments load and unload through the dive.
