The largest with best screen is the Ratio computer iX3M2. It comes with or without GPS, three models to choose from. You will need to choose their top technical computer models, the Tec+:

Funny, I was just on a boat with a guy who had the Tec+ a few weeks ago. I'd never seen one in the US out in the wild. Great looking computer and nice screen. Made me look deeper into them...impressive set of features, for sure.

OSTC4 has better screen.

The nice thing about a Shearwater is most anyone who does any tech diving knows of them. So if you have any questions, there are lots of tech divers that have the answers.

If you get a computer that is really cool, but you are the only one on the boat with one. And you are stuggling with a setting, or what a screen means, it could be you are the only one on the boat that has any idea what is going on. You are on your own. The other divers with there Shearwaters look at it and go "never seen that before, no idea what it means/what you should do/how to fix that/etc.)

The Shearwater has a recreational mode that makes it very easy for novice divers to use and understand it. But also has the power to do dives well beyond standard industry classes will teach.

Hi,
Which dive computer is recommended Trimix dives?

No computer: just a $200 bottom timer. You should hopefully be trained to plan your dive and then dive your plan...

If you would like the backup of a trimix dive computer, and seeing you are close to Europe, then I second OSTC: great screen, replaceable rechargeable battery and upgradable to trimix.

No - its not AI. If you feel a compulsive need to check your air more than 2-3 times a dive then get help there are other options out there.

Cheers
Rohan.

The Heinrichs Weikamp OSTC computers are all excellent computers.
The Ratio computers are all excellent computers.
The Shearwater computers are all excellent computers.

None of them are cheap.

I have an OSTC2.
I have a Ratio iX3M2 GPS.
I've never owned a Shearwater.

For me, the Ratio wins because it is the only one that has all of these:
  1. Large screen (OSTC4 I think is slightly larger)
  2. GPS (for recording start/finish locations of dives)
  3. AI - OSTC did at one stage have an AI model, but after delays in manufacturing the transmitters it silently disappeared, and there lack of transparency around why turned me away from them as a company
Ratio is also the lowest cost to entry, with a starting price of €650 for the non-GPS "Pro" model. It is then upgradable for €150 to the "Deep" model which adds trimix (3 mixes), and then another €150 for the "Tech" model which allows 10 mixes.

So you are going to wait until on you are on a rocking & rolling boat to figure out what your dive computer is telling you? Wouldn't it be better to learn it and play with it long before you set a foot on the boat?? What's even better, get a dive computer that is very easy to use and understand, practice with it prior to going on a boat and be happy, I am talking about Ratio computer here.

FYI, I NEVER get on a boat with brand new equipment and learn to use it there. I ALWAYS play with new equipment, even a new mask, in the pool or on a shallow shore dive prior to making an even remotely challenging dive with it. This is what I am doing now with a new dive computer I just got, the SP HUD.
