Air Integration is way overrated...

I recommend a standard SPG and a wrist mounted computer.

Dwayne

I too like the standard SPG, and wrist mounted computer. But for some they need to have the newest toy on the market, does not matter if it's practical.

I too also like AI because it gives you your SAC rate. I know it's pretty damn simply to calculate SAC rate using a standard SPG.

As with a lot of choices in life, it boils down to budget, priorities and personal preference. I chose the T2 (now "upgraded" to a T2x). I could afford the high price tag, I wanted a high performance reg, and I've had a strong affinity for titanium ever since my road bike days.

My wife's Z2x breathes just as well, but I love my reg and wouldn't trade it for anything else.

My rationale for owning a T2.

1. I buy the best I can afford in most activities I participate in. Why should I settle in diving?
2. It's 7/10ths of a lb. lighter. I fly everywhere I dive and carry-on my regs. As well as u/w video gear and other stuff. If domestic airlines ever start checking carry-on weight, I'm almost certainly over. It's also advantageous on overseas flights since carry-on allowances are often less. After multiple flights it maybe makes lifting my roller bag slightly easier. I bought a lightweight bag for the same reason - why not maximize the result with lighter gear.
3. My w/i BC/tank end'od off a tailgate recently - the yoke on the knob side took the impact on a concrete curb. Wasn't even scuffed. 5mins. later I dove it. Would a chrome over brass 1st have had the same result? Or would it have bent since Brass is softer? Probably not but IDK...
4. Ti is lighter and doesn't corrode - afaik never. I only dive saltwater so that's a consideration. I also plan to be using this reg for a long time - my previous chrome/brass 1st pitted after some years.
5. I'm terrible about maintenance. On a couple of occasions I've left my gear until weeks after I returned from a trip. The T2 looks as good as new. The last time I had it serviced the tech told me the only reason he changed the parts was since it was already apart.

A couple of thoughts. I am all for reducing weight, in the big scheme of things the weight reduction is minimal. While Ti is highly corrosion resistant it can still corrode. There are daily maintenance issues. Like rinsing it. I just took apart a Ti reg that was a PITA to disassemble. There was a huge amount of salt and mineral buildup to the point that taking the yoke apart was not easy. The same for jam nut on the second stage. They both needed long soaks in an ultra sonic cleaner and they still were pretty tough. Internally, there was signs of corrosion, fairly minimal. So while you can get away with a few things not all.

Any gear, properly maintained will last a life time.
