I wouldn't recommend him to do UW Photo this time. as he's not even Advanced OW and sounds like he's just got certified as OW in Tioman according to your another post at Sin/M'sia. He should concentrate on buoyancy control first in Manado, instead of crashing corals around trying to take pix.... Manado is a good place to practice BC as it's bottomless wall diving in Bunaken.
